Wow! Ammo is too expensive. At my local range, you can still buy ammo....but.....it's pricy!
Range session went OK, had two failure to feed and two stove pipe. It was cheap full metal jacket ammo from the range. But, once Debbie figured out that maintaining full pressure on the grip safety, things went much better. No FTF or stove pipe after proper technique was used. She shot a tight grouping at 7 yards, all within 5 inches.
What was surprising is how well she shot my Ruger LCR .38 spl. For it's simplicity, she may choose this as her EDC. I do have a very nice holster for it too. So, she has options. And, of course, with practice, she will improve and make her choice!
Either is fine with me. Her choice. My recommendation is still the Shield .380 EZ with finding the proper ammo. But, nothing is set in stone.
As for me? My M&P Shield 9mm with Hornady Personal Defense ammo will do just fine!

Ask yourself, with which gun would you rather be shot, a well placed 380, or a recoil flinched 9mm.
There is a marked difference between the 380 and the nine. Also, I currently see a lot more 380 ammo than 9mm. If you do buy the gun and because nobody ever reads the manual, do not depress the grip safety while attempting to put the slice back on the gun.

Spent time on the range. She's not fond of the M&P 380 E-Z. What we found out was, she likes my Ruger LCR .38 Spl. DAO but smooth trigger. She shot good groups without recoil flinch. I think she'll choose this as her EDC. And I already have a nice leather OWB holster for it. Nice!

I'm just shy of 70 and have had the .380 EZ for about 18 months now. Best out of the box autoloader I have owned. Took me awhile to find a decent carry holster (I'm very picky) but a couple of months ago I finally settled on a Vega "Duty Cama" with thumb snap. It's slowly working working itself into my EDC rotation but with the on going problem with ammo availability it may be awhile.

For the past few years my go to EDC has been a S&W Model 36 or Colt Detective Special with .38 Special 90 grain Critical Defense Light. Very manageable recoil.

The wife's S & W model 36 in .38 Spl was a bit too much for her likes, which is why the change to the .380 EZ. Hopefully she'll train more frequently and get proficient with her new EDC. Right now, she's using a generic holster, but she wants to find a quality leather one to enhance her skill and comfort! Thank You!
