I'm leaving tomorrow to go to my 150 acre place and hopefully shoot a deer this next week. I still have to fertilize some winter food plots (if they have had enough rain to be up) so I'll do that during the middle of the day.

Putting up feeders is almost folly as the #!@%&! bears destroy them within a few days of installation.

Tell us of your hunting plans for the archery opening.

We started here in GA last weekend. Couldn’t go out because I had some vehicle troubles.

My first day out will consist of a morning hunt followed by the completion of my shooting range followed by sighting in a ML, slug gun, and rifle for the upcoming firearms seasons. Then an evening sit.

My bet is all that walking around and gunfire will not dissuade the deer from my property at all.

That’s cool that you have bears on your property. I’m hoping one sneaks down from the mountains onto my place.

I wish I could send all of the ones around my place to you since Ga. has a bear season. These are untouchables here.

I just got back from a 5 day hunt and was skunked. I didn't see a deer and just cut some tail feathers off a gobbler when I shot low on him. At least I know the broadhead was sharp. :)
Overall, I saw 5 turkeys, 2 bobcats and a bear. The deer must be on acorns which my pine tree farm is real short of.

I hope the rest of y'all do better than I.

Our archery season opens Saturday too. I put out a feeder and camera in one of my favorite spots just before I left for a Yellowstone/ Tetons/Dinosauer National Monument road trip. Checked the camera yesterday and all that I have is one yearling doe coming in at midnight. Scouting showed enough acorns on the ground to shut the feeder down. Looks like I will have to hunt them now. Same thing happened last year. I took 2 does with bow and black powder before the acorns fell. Then I had to go old school and scout and hunt food and travel corridors. Had a ball. I am so glad that I learned to hunt them before baiting became legal. It sure helps when the oaks are loaded.

Bow season for me and one of my sons started this morning. We have a 4-day permit hunt. Some WMA`s in Florida have those.
Deer. Hog. Turkey.
All you need is water. Some snacks and your snake boots.
Saw some Turkey but could not get a clean shot. So, I ended up being a spectator. Just part of it.

I went this morning, saw a few does and a basket 6pt but I held out for a big one that didn't show.
Too hot to hunt this evening, would be spoiled before I found it and dressed it.
Trying again in the morning .

Few more weeks until archery opens here in Alabama. I’m getting ready, but haven’t practiced like I should have been (it’s been a busy year) so I’m only going to take a shot if it’s 20yds or in. I’ll wait it out eating squirrels until muzzleloader opens up
