Bowen SP-101 experience??

I've been getting antsy for some time now about getting a Ruger SP-101 in 327 mag for concealed carry. I really like the idea of 6 relatively powerful rounds out of that gun.

I was thinking that if I was going to do it why not go all out and have it just right and was looking on Bowen Classic Firearms website and they offer a nice package for that gun. I was wondering if anyone has had any SP-101 experience with Bowen. I know his shop does great work on big bores. I'm also thinking about Gemini but don't want any porting.

Gemini/ Bowen? Bowen/Gemini? Decisions, decisions........

You may want to try posting on one of the Ruger forums (either rugerforum.net or rugerforum.com). I've seen members on those boards who have had work done by both shops, and they all seemed very pleased. That being said, I've seen many more Gemini guns than Bowen guns on the forums.

If you want that Bowen Classic Arms rear sight, then Bowen is probably the best one for the job. OTOH, Marc Morganti has an impeccable reputation among Ruger folks.

My two custom SP101 snubbies pre-date Gemini Customs, being slicked and refinished by Jack Weigand, without the Hybra-porting. (Jack Weigand, who does not do custom 'smithing anymore, is credited on Gemini's site.) Figuring that Marc Morganti is equivalent to Jack Weigand at tuning Rugers, you would certainly be pleased with the work.

Look in the big thread on GP100s here in this forum, for excellent close-up photos posted by DawgFver, if I spelled his user name correctly. Gemini works on GP100s as well as SP101s.

Ok, how about this. Any opinions on Gemini's work with/without porting?

I had a Gemini Customs SP101. It was amazing. Pointed like a dream, more smooth and refined than a S&W model 60, but with the strength of the SP101.
Trigger was phenomenal, accuracy with 158gr loads was outstanding, and overall I give the gun an A+.
I didn't get it ported. There's no need.

Thanks for input guys. I have a really nice 3" GP. Maybe I should let Gemini do their thing with it.
