Brass polishing problems

Whats your desire? Clean and functional or shiney and purdy in the box... I'm not a fan of adding Brasso into my media it has amonia in it. Have I had or have been aware of brass failure due to brasso additive. No, I dont use it nor do i fire others handloads in my firearms. I do know that amonia is destructive to brass.

Im a nu-finish additive guy. On the clean and functional side.

Clean and functional is not exclusive from shiny and purdy ")

Yes, i do finish tumble loaded cartridges.

Besides looking good, it delays oxidizational pitting on the brass, and seems to aid in firearm function.

Blarby,

Good info. I just did my first load of batch with my corncob i had been using and 3 capfulls of nufinish. Its super shiny and unbelievably clean.

None unless they're molly coated.

I actually tumble my finished ammo, including moly coated cast boolits. There is no visible change and the portion that's going to be contacting the bore (or at least the majority of it) is inside the case anyway. ;)

FYI. There is corncob media that is small enough it will not get stuck in the flash hole. Sold by Grainger. As I remember it's the Fine grade.
Of course, smallest size is 50lbs. But it does let you easily clean off the sizing stuff before before loading.

Foodgrade cornmeal is also flash hole friendly, and can be had in much smaller quantities. It has a useful lifespan less than that of walnut, but is cheaper and more readily available.

Wow many ways to skin the proverbial cat.
I use Lyman turbo tumbler media (Corncob Green) with an occasional (actually more like rare) addition of lyman turbo charger. When I first started loading I bought 6 pounds for $15.00 (Hand written price because it was before bar codes) and I still have 4 or 5pounds left that I still use.
Anyway, I do a pre clean first on cases that I have just fired or picked up to get rid of dirt etc. then de-prime and go again about 2 hrs on each run. The primer pockets are pretty clean over all and show very little black in the hole.
The cases are just like new.
