New here.

I was out shooting today with a friend. We had some shot guns, rifles and handguns. Even after getting to shoot some of pretty cool guns, I just can't wait to shoot the little .22LR lever action rifle. It is my favorite gun to shoot. Now, I don't have many guns at the moment (870 Shotgun, GP100 revolver), but I do have access to many many guns when I get up to my parent's or brother's house (50+ guns). I still bring my .22 with me to go plinking, small game hunting, etc.

I don't think I'll ever tire of shooting this gun (have had it for 9 years now). It's the first gun I'll save if my house catches fire. The gun I always take to the range/shooting.

Nothing fancy, but just plain ol' fun...

Welcome cackalak! I have a BL-22 as well and they are just a hoot. Fun to shoot with ammo as cheap as it gets. Will it be the the first gun I save if the house catches fire?...not sure. I need to start working out so I can drag the whole dang safe outside!

Happy shooting!

That's the first new rifle my Dad bought when I was growing up. We put a 4X Weaver scope on it. I love that .22 as well.

Thanks, guys. Maybe it's all those hours I spent watching the "Rifleman", but I just love this rifle. I'm 6' and the small size doesn't bother me one bit.

My next gun purchase will be a .357 lever rifle. (Marlin 1894?).

WELCOME to THR cackalak

Was one of the first real firearms I ever had. I remember my mom buying my BL-22 from JC Pennys. That was back in 1971, Lord knows how many rabbits and squirrels fell victim to it since then. It lost it new look many years ago but it has never skipped a beat in it's 39 years. With it's short lever throw it is very fast handling, as far as I know the only one of its kind.

I miss the one I traded away every day...I'll probably break down and buy another. I throw rocks at the Winchester, Henry and Marlin.

well, I ain't knocking any other flavors
but none other has the crisp and quick and smooth short throw action of the BL22
make mine a grade II
plus the longer barrel octagon (just because it's pretty)
neither can throw a group like my target bolties can, but BLs are just a hoot to shoot

I have owned a few "Back in the day" and always regretted selling em. I picked up another back in spring, and found an old Bushnell 3x7 custom to go on it, just like the one I had back in the late seventies. It is not as accurate as some other 22's, but it is still my favorite.

I took the Crickett scope off when I got the Bushnell.....

I've got one, er, actually, the wife has one. Bought it 30 years ago. I like the short throw and the fact the trigger pivots with the lever. A scope always looked big on it so I put a 1" red dot on.

Nice gun, wriggly. Mine's been pretty accurate via iron sights. Put a nice group @ 25 yards little bit ago.

I'm also thinking of putting this in my front door closet along with some ammo in my 72 hour emergency kit. It would make a great survival gun.
