Anyone have any experience with the Browning Buckmark Hunter? It's a .22LR target pistol with a bull barrel (7.25 inches) and wood grips. Stumbled on one today at a local shop for $349 and change and was intrigued -- guess I'm just a sucker for .22 caliber target pistols these days.

It's a beauty, all right. But how does it perform? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It was my first firearm ever, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone.

Very accurate, awesome hi-viz front sight, sexy cocobolo grips, and 100% reliable.

I like the ergos, controls, dis-assembly, and grip angle much better than the comparable Rugers also.

The integral scope rail is nice also. If you don't want to mount anything, it's not in the way or even unsightly.

Go buy it!

I've got one and it always puts a smile on my face when I shoot it. Slapped a Burris Fastfire red-dot on it and it makes it all the more fun. If you pick one up, you won't regret it. Great plinker.

I think I have one. Really like it. I've got a 2x pistol scope on it and like it for squirrel hunting.

ETA: sorry, mine is the Silhouette model. Thought it matched your description but knew the name didn't sound familiar, and I checked the barrel on mine and it is closer to 10"

I have what would now be called the 'slab-sided' 6" barrel version of a URX model from about 1994; still a very accurate weapon. Was right out of the box (no sight tweaking, nothing). Can't promise you'll get that kind of performance but owners on this board seem almost unanimous about its accuracy and reliability. Only complaints I've seen seem to surround the loosening of the allen bolts during use; bolts which hold the rear sights and the slide cover down (just replace them each time you disassemble and you won't have any problems).

I can't imagine how accurate a model with a longer barrel would be (no wonder they call it the 'hunter').

Thanks a lot for the feedback, guys. Looks like I'm off to town again ... and very happy about it, given the quality of the Browning name and the success that this gun has had through the years. I can't find a negative thing written about it anywhere, and I really appreciate all the positive reviews here. Grazie.

Searcher, Any model of Buckmark's are a very well made and accurate .22 pistol. Browning has designed those weapons to perfection. Great pick-up. Have fun!

Agreed! For mid-priced .22 autoloading pistols, there's nothing built anywhere in the world that can run with a Buckmark right out of the box. Now before you Ruger Mk? shooters come after me with tar & feathers, I own & like them too. But my (purely subjective) preference is still the Buckmark. Let us know how it shoots!

Thanks, guys, for the good advice; I'm working on it. I'm one side of the state at the moment and the gun is on the other, and the shop where I saw it doesn't offer layawys -- even with money down, even with full payment: buy it today and carry it away with you, or it'll sit for another buyer.
