Browning Citori For Trap????

I have a 1984 Browning Citori 3" that has a vented rib and a single bead that has never been fired. It is also threaded for interchangeable chokes. My question is whether or not high volume shooting through this gun, which is not designed for trap/skeet, would eventually cause premature wear. In particular, damage to the barrels. Any input would be helpful.

It may not be the absolute, ideal gun for that sport but you're not going to hurt it until it gets around the 20 to 40K round count and even then it's only a trip back to Browning to be tightened and it will be good for another 20 to 40K......... Enjoy.....

I know of plenty of Browning Citoris that have been shot 75K to 100K rounds (or more) with nothing more done to them than replacement of the hammer springs and firing pins.

Both jobs are fairly simple and most guns owners are able to do it themselves. Even if they can't or don't want to do it themself, a local gunsmith can do it easily. No need to send it back to Browning.

You are not going to hurt the barrels any either, even if you put 200k rounds through it.

This is sort of in left field, but I do own and shoot a Browning Citori Trap gun that now has over 15,000 rounds thru it. it locks up as tightly as it did new and the only difference I can see is that it opens and closes more smoothly. I do love this gun.

Browning Citoris are built like tanks.

There are some special lightweight models that have aluminum alloy receivers that may not be quite as overbuilt, but the standard steel ones will probably stand up to as much as or more use than any other shotgun made.

I find the 12 Gauge versions to be too tall and far too heavy to be ideal for field use. However, for Trap, these are assets.

I have a citori, 26 inch barrels, perfect for trap.

Shooting against autos and pumps, it's like cheating. I put around 400 rounds through it in one day ( I don't shoot that often, but a few time a year I get to shoot it a lot)

Don't know how many rounds total this one has through it, but it locks up tight, ejects great, hits things when I do my part. My favorite shotgun ever.
