I have exhausted "google searches" for information about Browning HP grips.
I have owned a BHP MK111 for over twenty years, a forged framed, Belgian made, Belgian assembled, epoxy finish, with fixed sights, mag disconnect removed. Is one of my CCW carries, have 100% faith in its reliability, and ability to take care of business. It also still wears its original, black factory, plastic stocks, which fit my hand, giving me the "pointability" it is so famous for.
Recently, without expectations, I came across a bright polished, deep blued, adjustable sighted, brand new MK111, at a price that was irresistible. Fitted with the original "blocky" walnut stock, that just do not fit my hand like the black plastic ones.
In my searches, I have read that Craig Spegel makes grips that many think are the best, others tout Hogues wood and exotic materials, and a few others. From what I have read, these grips speak on how thin they are.
But what I can not find, is which one in wood, comes closest to dimensionally matching the black plastic grips.
Hopefully, A Browning HP owner with personal experince, replacing the black plastic, with nice figured wood, my new blued BHP deserves

Closest grips I could find were those made by haldwarf at deviantart.com. They look to be comparable to the original factory grips.

Wood grips are beautiful on a blued BHP. However, you should consider Pachmayr Signature grips if you need a very slim profile. They are very comfortable and look very good on a blued gun to boot. (Another option for you if you are most interested in comfort) You won't find wooden grips that thin. Good luck. Post pics when you decide!

Spegels are very nice but normally have a long wait. They often require a bit of fitting. They have a slight palm swell to them but are thinner and less blocky than the factory wood grips. They are beautiful and make your BHP look classy!

Spegel now also makes BHP grips in Delrin which are a hard material similar to Miacarta. A bit more tactical cool and might be a better choice for carry or hard use.

Another option which is out there in the used market are Uncle Mikes rubber which were designed by Spegel. They have a similar feel to the Spegel wood grips but with a rubber texture. They were stock on the Charles Daly Hi Powers and were sold directly but have been discontinued. You can find them LNIB for about $50-$60 on ebay and gun boards.

Another great option are Navidrex which come in wood and micarta. The wood have a palm swell similar to Spegels while the micarta are some of the thinnest grips on the market. They are my go to choice on carry BHPs. They feel great in the hand for me and hold up better than wood grips. Depending on the gun they require a bit of fitting.

I think that none of the aftermarket grips have the same feel of the factory grips. Most of them are thinner. I personally replace the factory grips on my BHPs with one of the above.

Maybe doesn't meet your criteria, but VZ makes some mighty fine grips for the BHP along with other pistols.

Esmeralda also makes some mighty fine looking grips for the Hi-Power although I don't think they have the palm swells that you're looking for. I never cared for the original factory grips on my Hi-Power Mk.II so I replaced them with a set of Pachmayrs. They feel great and pretty much look right at home with matte finish on the gun.

The factory french walnut grips are what I am wanting to replace, with nice wood.
What I am wanting is to match the contours of the factory black plastic, without the thumb rest molding. I am NOT looking for the slimmest/thinnest grips, just something slimmer than the french walnut blocks, but NOT thinner than the black plastic.

You are going to have a tough time. Most people who replace BHP grips do not like the contour of the factory grips plastic or wood so most aftermarket grips are thinner. I don't know of any which are thicker than the factory.
