Wondering how to remove the bolt from a 7-mag Browning Lever Action rifle. A friend has borrowed one to go elk hunting (another story) and it has developed a problem with the bolt not locking up with a round chambered (does fine without a round in the chamber. Tried different ammo). I believe the problem is due to a dirty chamber not allowing the bullet to seat all the way. I think it would be solved by thoroughly cleaning the chamber. However, neither of us know how to get the bolt out to do a good job of inspecting and cleaning.

Any instructions or links would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

The gear driven mechanizim on the BLR is a real bear to get back together once taken apart. The timing is difficult to get right and I would not recommend the dissasembly for cleaning.

I would use a different approach such as putting a chamber size brass bush into the ejection port and running a cleaning rod down the barrel to mate with the brush (screw brush into rod) .

Remove the wood and use a spray cleaner for the mechanizem.
