Earlier today I ordered a Browning T-Bolt AA (whatever that designation is worth) maple sporter chambered in 17 HMR. I was looking for an heirloom quality rimfire hunting rifle, and this fit the bill. Small game hunting is a fair weather affair for me, so I decided to go with sex appeal and I chose the wood over the synthetic. I plan to post a range report after some time with the rifle, but, I wanted to make a post now because there is a significant deal on the maple stock sporters (available in 17 HMR, 22 LR, or 22 WMR). CDNN is offering these for $575, and if you order it before December 31st you can get a $75 rebate from Browning, which brings the price to $500 even. Of course by the time I added shipping costs ($10), FFL transfer fee ($30), an extra magazine ($50), two boxes of ammo ($30), a scope ($120), and rings/bases ($50) I'm at a total of around $800.

Almost bought a T-Bolt two years ago because I was impressed by them and did lots of homework on them and watched a few U-Tube videos on them. LGS had one in stock in 22 LR ( chambering I wanted), and I looked at that one in person. This LGS is not known for big discounts and I would have been looking at about 800 bucks including tax for the rifle alone. Forgot what model T- Bolt this particular gun was but it was one of the more deluxe models and was a beautifully finished high grade gun. Eventually wound up getting a CZ-455 that I really enjoy but I still think that T-Bolt was sweet. A real heirloom quality rifle like you mentioned and I will look forward to that range report. Sounds like you got a good deal on it, too.

I have a buddy that bought a maple T bolt in .22 that had one of the best looking pieces of wood I have seen on a factory gun. It was striped like a tiger. He kept if NIB for a while and offered to sell it to me. I kinda wish I had bought it.

I have never tried one. Congratulations on your purchase. I look forward to your range report. It might make a good replacement for my Browning Buckmark Sporter rifle if I ever move on and finally sell it. Of course, I want to know how it shoots, but I would also like to know how it handles, if it gets very dirty and how easy it is to clean. .22 LR would be my caliber, but maple, that is something I would also lean towards.

Very nice, and excellent deal! I hope you get lucky in the wood lottery.

Here's my maple T-Bolt Sporter in .22LR. It isn't a very fancy piece of wood, but it always draws attention at the range. These days it's wearing a Leupold VX-1 2-7x28mm rimfire scope instead of the FX-1 4x28mm pictured here. I'll eventually get a proper photo of the new set-up.

Wow it is beautiful to my eyes.:thumbup:

I’ve used a T-Bolt Sporter with satin finish walnut for years as my squirrel gun. They are scary accurate. Mine has a Nikon 4x32 Rim Fire Scope. Can pick off squirrels running up a tree truck or along a limb.

I had the exact same gun in 22LR. While stock and grain figure was gorgeous, the rest of the gun was overpriced and underwhelming. The action was stiff and not nearly as smooth as a traditional rimfire bolt action. The trigger, trigger guard, and floor plate were all plastic. The trigger pull was excessively heavy. And mine shot mediocre even after hundreds of rounds of different 22LR match ammo. I sold it several years ago and don’t regret it at all. It looked way better than it shot.

Browning SHOULD have made a dressed up version of their OLD T-bolt!

I guess they wanted to be able to injection mold some of the parts, instead of machining them!
