Was playing around on the internet and saw a new offering from Buck Knives that interested me. The Buck Brahma knife. It is essentially a Buck 119, one of the more popular Bucks, but with a stacked leather handle, black powder coated stainless blade, and "tactical" sheath. Enough interest to go to Amazon and order one.

I had read reviews online that weren't complimentary of the sheath so I ordered a brown leather sheath for a 119 at the same time. Glad I did because I like it much better. The knife was $70, the sheath another $15, so $85 all together, plus shipping of course. There are better knives, but at the price it is hard to go wrong here I think. Only time, and use will tell

At 6" this is as big as I want in a knife. It is similar in appearance to the 7" Ka-Bar that is so famous, but just enough smaller that I like the size better.

Here are some descriptions from Buck, the 119

Buck makes a good knife for the money. Not the best, most modern or most hi-tech steels, but decent quality. I've always felt the 119 was a good knife on the upper limits of size that I'd actually use, but the handles are so slick I didn't like them. The leather handle on this one provides a firm grip even if wet and still looks pretty classy I think.

How does it feel in the hand? Like the look of it, but I have large hands and wonder if the metal pommel sticking out at the bottom would be uncomfortable.

I'm a fan of buck knives. Have used a 110 for a while, very happy with it. My daily carry is a bucklite- fantastic little knife.

I wear a size Large glove, but my hands aren't huge. I can't palm a basketball. The pommel is just right for me and it would help keep it from slipping out of my hand. The one on the standard 119 is more rounded and more forgiving I suppose.

thanks jmr40- It looks fantastic. Did you have trouble finding the brown sheath? All I seem to find are the black ones.

I just looked around on Amazon. It is actually listed as Burgundy, but looks dark brown to me. After seeing it in person I think black would have looked good too.

The link in the 2nd post buy Optics Planet shows one. At $19.90 is a little more than I paid on Amazon, but might be worth $5 more if you really wanted the Burgundy color.

My go to fixed blade is a Buck 119 I've had since 1972. Does every thing I need it to do. This looks like a worthy addition to my collection.
