I'm a cheap guy. I like Hi Points. I like Wolf ammo. I'm not going to be a snob about price.

But with all the great 3-9s and 4-12s running around in the $150-$250 range, I don't know why you'd bother taking a chance with the $50 Chinese stuff.

Is the Pinty scope worth the money??
........... Who knows? ...... Might be worth a gamble. In that price range I might take a gamble on it as long as it's not intended for serious use like hunting. For informal plinking and unofficial target shooting it may be worth it if it holds up for a few years or so. I have some el-cheapo scopes that have been well worth the money. Especially the BSA 2-7x that's been on my 10/22 for over 20 years now. But it's not subjected to hard recoil and just used for small game & plinking. For big game rifles that kick harder and are used in situations where I wish to avoid the disappointment of losing a big game animal because my cheap scope let me down; then it's time to get something decent. Most of my "serious" guns that are scoped have Leupolds and the most recent scope purchase was a Nikon Monarch for the 257 Weatherby.

There is a video on YouTube of a shooter doing a tracking evaluation between the 4-16 and 6-24 vs a SWFA fixed power scope. Performance was better than I would have expected. However, tester indicated that magnification is not as indicated. 24x was probably actually 15x, 16x was probably 12x.

My only experience with a CenterPoint wasn’t good. Even before mounting the scope on a rifle, I was reading the manual and figuring out the locking mechanism for the turrets. (4-16x w/ illuminated reticle). Vertical reticle adjustment detached. I returned it for my money back...

I’ve got a cheap 1-4x Chinese scope. Vertical adjustment is backwards from depiction on turret. (Up is actually down!). It is marked 3moa dot, but is actually about 1moa (Actually not bad..).

You do get what you pay for. It’s up to you to decide how much you are willing to pay for.
A range toy?, go for it!
A long range hunting or competition set-up? Get quality! But won’t be cheap.

Only Center Point scope I've got was free with the Crosman Fire I bought a couple years ago. Sighted it in at about 25 yards or so, for critters in the back. Was ringing 2" steel spinners at that distance without issue, but if a scope is going to blank, it certainly will off a pellet gun, as they beat hell out of them. If it does, I'll investigate the ones better known for recoil.

My only Center Point scope experience is the 3-9x that came on my Benjamin Trail .22 cal. pellet gun which is now over 3.5 years old. I've heard about how those guns can be rough on scopes but this one's been trouble free and I'm quite happy with it. I realize that it's only an example of one but that's my experience with them and they are either pretty decent or else I just got lucky.
