Building a Gun Rack

Hi,

Do you guys have some experience/ideas on how to make a gun rack for about 5-10 rifles/shotguns? Nothing too fancy or complicated. Just something similar to that you see at the range that you lean your rifle on and there are dividers so the guns don't fall over sideways etc. Maybe any blueprints or photos? Unofficial gun rack thread?

I have made them, but they are so simple I never used plans. It would br interesting though to see some creative ideas....

Don't use oak unless you intend to seal it really well. The acid in some oaks will remove blueing overnight. Don't ask me how I know!!!!

Oak is quite tannic. I would also avoid cedar and (funnily enough) cypress.
Your best bet is probably kiln- dried white pine, well oiled after final assembly.

You can usually find some cheap screw-in type tool hangers that have a rubber or vinyl coating on them. Just screw those in to a wall or build a cheap frame out of 2x4s.

Those would work and at less than $2 each, you won't break the bank.

found some even cheaper as long as you don't mind yellow vinyl.
