Building a Silencer?

OK I have been thinking about building my own Silencer for 5.56 and 22 LR.

Lets get all the BS out of the way. I know I will need to do form 1 and so on. Not my First NFA item.

So when I get a tax stamp in my hands. What to build I will be used on 22LR rifle, P22, AR carbine and AR SBR. I guess the big question is Monocore or a K baffle design?

You're gonna need a pretty dang durable kit to use on an SBR, and it may end up being too bulky for your p22. With the short barrel you're going to have to suppress much higher volumes of gasses which means your design needs to be able to handle the extra heat and pressure

Anything capable of suppressing 5.56 is going to be downright bulky on a pistol. It will probably block the sights as well.

OK Think i will drop the P22 then. Still want to be able to do the AR SBR and 22LR

I've got both 5.56 and .22 cans. I shoot the .22 a LOT more than the 5.56. The .22 is hearing safe. The 5.56 is not. By all means get what you want, but if I could only have one can it would be the .22. Naturally the answer is to get one of each

IMHO you would be best off with whichever one is easier to clean. The .22LR is likely to deposit a good bit of lead on the baffles. Not a problem with the soft lead bullets, but a jacketed round of 5.56 could ruin your day (and the baffles). Most manufacturers of 5.56 cans will NOT warranty them for use with soft .22LR for that reason.

Just a thought.

If you make it out of a material appropriate for .223, cleaning even a sealed silencer will not be a problem.

Due to the P22 being blow back operated, would a suppressor increase pressures or decrease performance?

All the usual semi-auto .22 pistols I'm aware of are blowback operated and have a fixed barrel, and a suppressor poses no problem to this arrangement.
