I started on a new project. This one is a Tennessee rifle. It is being built from a plank and using plans from Track of the Wolf. Just for for fun, I am making a series of videos of building it. I am explaining what I am doing every step along the way. Hopefully it will be helpful to those of you who are new to this or thinking about giving it a try. I am not a gun building expert so don't think of this as the right way or the best way to do things. It is just me building a gun and talking too much. I don't have any schedule on when the videos will be coming out. The gun is not finished yet so I will post new videos to You Tube as I get them done. I am anxious for hear any comments that you might have.

Here is Part 1. Showing all the parts, explaining what they and how they go together, and getting started.

Thank you for sharing the building of a long gun. It's quite a thing to go out with one that you fabricated yourself. For those who are interested and want classes, both Conner Prairie (Noblesville, IN) and the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association hosts classes (NMLRA classes are at Western Kentucky University, Bowling Green, KY). I've attended both.

Great job!
I'm going to start making maple, cherry and walnut stocks again,as there's a market for it.
Probably build myself a tennessee.
Started rifle hunting on BP and have come full circle. I just enjoy it more.

Between 1986 and 1990 I "built" 2 CVA Kentucky rifles in .45 caliber. Most of the stock work was done except for the inletting of the lock plate and brass works. In 1996 both were in a gun safe during a house fire and the woodwork was too badly charred to be saved. In 2012 I built a modified butt plate, bought or built the necessary woodwork and got one of them back in working condition. I've just now decided to do the rework on the second one. I have the barrel, lock, trigger unit and the brass work for it. A replacement stock (used) is on its way from Ohio. My projects weren't/aren't as heavy as yours but they are a lot of fun (especially when you get to shoot the finished project).
