I am looking hard at some 7.62 X 54R surplus ammo from these three countries. I know that the Bulgarian ammo is brass cased and the other two are steel cased. But, I know very little about the ammo otherwise.

I have read and heard many people putting this 1950s production ammo down as being garbage and not dependable...that it is a poor idea to use them for SHTF or self-defense situations.

What are the differences between these ammunitions?

Are these 1950s productions dependable...will they fire every time? Has anyone had problems with these rounds not firing? Would you trust the stuff to protect your life?

Thanks

I'm used the hungarian, czech and polish. only had problems with the polish (split necks). all went bang. prefer the hungarian of the 3
