I received a Bushnell Rim fire 3-12-40 for Christmas the other night and wrote up a short review yesterday about my first out of box impressions. Well upon removing from the box everything looked great until I mounted it. I noticed something odd when looking through it with proper eye relief and it appears to be glue smeared on the bottom portion of the inside. I saw another review stating the same issue but just brushed it off. I adjusted the eye piece, parallax and magnification and it didn't go away. I'm pretty disappointed to say the least.

The scope is very clear and the turrets and parallax seem to work pretty well. I will be returning this one and try another. If that one doesn't work out ill move onto something else. I stated Bushnell got me again because I was very reluctant to mess with them. I had a Banner that came with a rifle and it wouldn't hold zero and another banner dusk-dawn shotgun that blew up on a shotgun. I figured its been about 10yrs give them another try. The glass looks a lot better then previous scopes but the glue is the issue.

Sorry to hear. I have a couple of Dusk to Dawn Banners for some 18 yrs now and they’ve been good scopes for what I use them. I just posted about the latest Bushnell I just got. A Trophy Xtreme 2.5-15x50mm. So far I am very impressed. Can’t quite compare it to my Trijicon Accupower (Yet) but on the plates at 300 yds it performed great. Hopefully the next one will be 100% for You.

It's probably grease, I've had a few scopes that grease got on a lense during shipping or assembly.
I've only actually seen glue in a couple of really cheap scopes, and never in any of the bushys I've taken apart.
One bushy I bought (actually a weaver Kaspa) had a finger print visible on a lense if you looked at it right. They replaced it no questions and the replacement scope was perfect.

You know, I've been down on Bushnell for ages, largely because of some of the "package" scopes from them I've used and discarded, but lately I've been buying a few. I happen to live 2 hours from the Kansas City Bushnell Outlet and they give big discounts to Kansas Rifle Association members; like in the 50% range. So I've bought several lately; a 6X18X40 Rimfire, a 6X18X50 Prime, an AR223 scope, etc. And, so far, I've been happy with every one of the newer ones. I think they're definitely coming up in quality. I still won't turn down a good used Leupold at the pawn shop, but Bushnell makes a nice low-priced-for-the-quality scope for anyone who cringes at $1000 scopes.

I checked out my new scope today and its clear as a bell. The other one I can see the inside threading, grease and some other junk. Ill be sending that one back to amazon this week and mounting my new one soon.

The new scope tracked very well Friday night and holds zero even after knocking it around. It also very bright when shooting in thick woods at 5pm last night. My only con is the side focus for parallax isn't dead accurate but that could just be my eyes.

I've had two Bushnells over the years. I'll never have another one.:(
I swore them off around 2013ish when a shotgun scope broke on me. I ended up wounding a deer because of it and they told me they wouldn't warranty the scope. I said never again! My savage came with a cheap 4-12 that wouldn't track. I skipped them and went Nikon prostaff on everything i owned. This Bushnell rimfire got good reviews and while the first one had the grease or glue on the inside lens amazon was great in returning it and the replacement was perfect. For now.

Like another poster I live near the Bushnell Outlet in KC. I've bought 3 Elite scopes and a spotting scope, all with a hefty discount and they have all been very good. I shoot in many different conditions...squirrel woods, in the heat of a summer prairie dog shoot, very cold days in the deer blind, rainy days, you name it. In the course of that activity and the inevitable bumps and bruises that occur, I've never had a problem.

Bushnell is good to the customer. However, I cannot make up for the lost time fiddling with a bum scope. Looks like we get what we pay for. Of late some of the promo scopes are brand less. Bushnell has done themselves great harm having their name on the lowest of the low end scopes on entry level rifles. Basically, If you have a bad scope Bushnell will replace with new. Most of mine that have gone back are pre-owned from the Bubba Custom Gun an Bumper Plating Works.

Hope I can't say that Bushnell got me again.
Never had a problem, owned 4 of the Banners (when not Chinese) and
got a used 2X Trophy scope on a Contender. It seemed nice.

Nice enough I bought one used off an auction sight. Said light ring marks.
Not, was crud...........thing is spotless.
Scope and shipping, under 50 bucks.

So.............looking for Contender bbl to slap it on :)

I had a Leupold 2X, think it wasn't as twitchy, but hated the look. Like a bell on the front.
Have to go 4X for that. And on a deer pistol, I think that too much mag.
Ideally, somebody make a reddot that looks like a Leupold 4X EER.
Nobody does.

I’ve had an Elite 4200 3-9x40 for a long time on my .270. In fact it’s the oldest scope I own. When I upgraded the optics on my rifles it’s the one scope I didn’t replace.

Ten or so years ago I bought a fixed 4x bubble back rimfire Bushnell to go on a Model 60. It was real cool in that the more I shot the rifle the duplex reticle started morphing into the shape of a swastika. Got rid of it and it was the last cheap scope I’ve purchased.

Well instead of making a new thread I’ll post in this one. I was finally able to install the target turrets on the replacement scope and it shoots great with them! I went from a 50yard zero to clicking it to 100yards on the target turret and was hitting 2x2 wood blocks at 100yards with Remington thunderbolts. Scope seems to be going strong and at the moment I’m very happy with the purchase.

Well, had a Banner 4-18 crap out on me. Went to mount the scope on a rifle and the power ring was jammed. This scope was the replacement for another defective Banner. This scope was not abused. The fault is mine for expecting high level performance from an inexpensive scope. All this is a current event.

I bought a 2nd Trophy (Japan) EER 2X off an auction site, same price as other.
Like new. But this one had the crosshairs straight LOL.
Sent the other one off for repair.
Did not make it to range today, felt like crap (forgot allergy meds yesterday).
Might go tomorrow, boycott Mother's Day.

I'm joining the Kansas Rifle Association and checking that Outlet store...it's less than an hour away from me, maybe 20 minutes or so. Driven by it a ton of times but never stopped in. Need a scope for my Savage 12FV .308 rifle. I was also told there is one just east of me in Lee's Summit Mo, but havent verified that.

I got a package today. Sent in an old Japanese made 2x trophy pistol scope. Told them i got it used like new and the crosshairs crooked (auction site). They said that model had unconditional warranty so send it in. Well.....bummer. Guess it couldnt be fixed...they sent me a brand new reflex sight. No note

Just the sight.

There was the option to replace on the warranty paperwork i had to fill out.

Nice i got something back for my investment. Shot my TC w another scope of same type. Was wanting the other fixed to set up on another bbl.

If shorty wants to turkey hunt she now has an optic :)

Update:

Got a letter from Bushnell.
Just said in accordance w their warranty policy they sent back my $10 (sent w scope for shipping per instructions).

So got my ten bucks back and a brand new reflex sight.

While I would have preferred the 2x EER scope to be fixed, as I wanted two Contender bbls w same scope/rings..........
that's still pretty good warranty/CS.

Not gonna complain, just is what it is when you have obsolete item.
