A good friend of mine is a gunsmith, range owner, FFL holder, CHL holder and USPSA participant. He is leaving for northern Arizona (Bullhead City) next week to visit family but will be passing through Las Vegas.

He is under the impression (I think he's wrong) that traveling with a gun will be a hassle and has decided that he wants to buy a gun in Vegas that he can carry while he is out there. Arizona has reciprocity with Texas. And, yes, I know Vegas is in Nevada.

He says he just wants to buy a .38/.357 revolver that he can use and put up for sale when he returns. He is an FFL, remember?

Can anyone suggest where he should be looking to find a good selection of arms at reasonable prices?

Thanks!

I don't know the laws regarding an FFL holder buying firearms while out of state. I do know tht without an FFL no Nevada dealer will sell directly to a non-resident.

I deal with Discount Firearms, 702-567-1158. Ask for Mike or Anna, they are the owners, and they are good people.

As for travelling with a firearm, that's easy. Lock the gun in a case, without ammo, then lock the case in the trunk. Your friend can buy ammo in AZ. If your friend is flying, have him contact his airline for their procedures.

Well unless the laws have changed his Texas carry permit would be worthless, but he can still travel with the handgun. He just have to lock it up properly.
As to his purchasing and selling a handgun out of his home state, all he needs is his license and logs the transactions in is book.

According to AZ, the Texas CCW permit is recognized. You just have to obey AZ CCW laws.
