Good evening,

I am going to be starting up a huge project that may take until 2015 to complete.

I will be trying and testing almost every 70-77gr. bullet i can get my hands on with a variety of different powders. Every load i make will be as close to book specs as i can make them in regards to what components they call for.

This is a huge project.....

My question is C.O.A.L.

Obviously being an AR platform and the desire to feed the cartridges from a magazine i need to stay at 2.260 or less.

Does anybody have any feed back on accuracy differences between 2.250 vs 2.260? I will likely do some experimentation. I just have such a huge project that it may take me until 2016 if i experiment with to many variables.

The only thing i can think of doing is.... working the loads up from the bottom until i find the most accurate load with several different types of powder. Finding my favorite one in regards to performance and then play with C.O.A.L. to see if it gets me anywhere.

I have my first batch of Berger OTM 77gr. bullets stuck in Norma cases over W748, IMR 8208 and Varget all worked up waiting to shoot. I sized them all at 2.255 +/- 0.02

I never have bought a box of factory Black Hills 77gr. ammo to see what length they are making them. My guess is 2.250 but that is pure speculation.

Also... Has anybody had feeding problems with a C.O.A.L. of 2.260? Seems it is right on the ragged edge of things.

Thank you for your time. I am sure this has been covered in detail in several places but.... ????
