My son (in CA) wants one. What are the rules for bringing one into the state? Are clones or older surplus BHPs legal there?

Check it calguns inter familial transfer.

Father's can gift guns to sons. Even ones that are not on the roster.

Also, check out the CA roster of handguns. I believe the mk3 bhp is listed.

You can't just bring it in and give it to your son. It needs to be properly transferred through a FFL...who hopefully understands how Indra-Familia transfers are processed

A pistol classified as C&R is legal to transfer, so if t's 50 years old, or if there's a Hi Power on the C&R list.
