I know a guy with a .44 cal black powder pistol in good shape and was wondering what a fair price might be.

On the top of the octagon barrel is stamped:

Navy Arms Co. Ridgefield NJ. Italy

Cal. 44 is stamped on the left side of the barrel and FN is stamped on the right side.

On the right side on the frame below the cylinder it's stamped with what looks to be a square with an X in it then a space and the letters PN and another space and the letters XXV.

On the bottom of the frame between the grips is the # 9803.

I'm assuming it's some kind of reproduction do to the design and clarity of the stampings and the overall condition of the gun.

Anyone familiar with these that could help me out?

Thanks in advance!

It is a reproduction, made in Italy. The Navy Arms guns are pretty good; most were made by Uberti, but they have sold guns by other makers. There is mild collector interest, but value is really based on usability, around $150-250 per gun in top condition, less if worn or non-functional.
