I shoot a lot! I mean...stupid a lot! I get off work early on friday...go shoot 400-500 rounds...then many times will return on sunday for the same drill. 1000 rounds a weekend. There are times I'll shoot less..but I can get carried away! I can buy reloads from a reputable business in this area for around $240 per 1000 with brass exchange. I can buy Wally world stuff for $39 per 100 for white box ammo. Either way...I'll go broke if I maintain current trends. Jeez! I thought golf was expensive.

Therefore...

Bullseye : $22.00 pound. (22.00 / 7000 grains = .003 x 5.2g = 1.6 cents
CCI Primers $28.00 per 1000 2.8 cents
LEAD bullets: $80 per 1000 - 8 cents
Brass - FREE (people at the range know I'm a whore and offer up their brass)

The total cost per round is 12.4 cents X 100 = $12.40 per bx of 100 rnds.

I never really put it to paper..and just recently amazed myself at the savings! I JUST Switched to lead...tried some Bullseye and it worked VERY well. All cheap stuff!
FINALLY..I can tell my wife that I'm saving money and not cross my fingers!

Maybe now I shouldn't feel guilty about spending the $400 plus on a Dillon. I can actually state that it was an investment..and keep a straight face!

Yep, by going to 8 lb jugs from Powder Valley, you can get the powder cost to less than $13/lb for Bullseye, but that only shaves about 0.6 cents per round, and going to Wolf primers at $15.50 shaves off another 1.3 cents per round. To really save more money you need to get into casting your own bullets.

So if you're saving that much on 9 mm, then you should take a look at .454 Casull savings. At this rate, I'll make a fortune with all the money I'm saving.

Now that I'm trying Bullseye...I'm going to go through the 1lb bottle first..make sure I like the results in accuracy...then get a 8lb jug if it all works out well. I bought a 8lb jug of Varget..then changed rifles..and there it sits...8 lbs of Varget!

I don't think I want to get into casting. At least not now! I shoot primarily 45acp with a few being 40 cal or 9mm..but not many. 45 cal is my love. Are Wolf primers quality primers?

If you're shooting 1500 rounds a week, then casting will clearly pay off.
230 grain boolit
7000grains/pound / 230 grains/boolit * $1/pound of lead (on the expensive side) = $0.03 per boolit.

or FREE if you are a lead scrounger. You can also make your lube for free (check youtube)

That makes it $7.40/100 bullets or $4.40/100 if you scrounge your lead.

I'm not a caster, so I could be wrong; casting 1400+ projectiles a week is probably more than you'll have time for.

Buy in bulk (big bulk).

I don't use them. Shooters I know personally have.
The Wolfe primers are harder and a little 'bigger' in some cals.
Many pistol shooters have reported FTFs and or difficulty seating with Wolfe primers.
Others don't.
How significant to you is the amount of money you save with Wolfe primers?

I'm already a brass whore. What kind of guy do you think I am?? I have ethics you know!! I can see myself picking through the dirt mound at end of range looking for spent bullets. Seriously...I can actually see myself!

It's not that big of deal. I'm not that frugal of a shooter. I'll keep buying CCI's
