I just applied for a deer permit again...…….I'll be 77 when season rolls around!
Think I'll use my old Remington 760 in 30-06 with it's Weaver K6w scope. It's never let me down.
They were pretty common in my area in the 80's and 90's but then the state extended the "no rifle zone" for deer hunting, and I didn't see so many of any of the Remington rifles after that.
I remember "de-coppering" a bunch of them, 700;s, and 742's over the years that I worked part-time at a gun shop. They really benefited from a good removal of copper deposits from the barrel.
On June 9, 2019 I had been retired for 20 years and the past 20 years have been the best years of my life. It gave me the opportunity to work for myself instead of someone else, to spent more time with my wife and to hunt, fish and camp more. What a great life it is and I wish the best to you. Good luck with the deer season.
May the warm winds of heaven blow softly upon this home and the Great Spirit bless all who enter here. (Cherokee Blessing)
