Only a drop in the bucket, but drops can add up. A short note sent off to ESPN.......every mention of responsible use of weapons is a good thing.

Dear ESPN Staff,

I thought I would ask that some of the shooting sports be recognized,
either in print or on the broadcast.

For the last week and for the next few weeks, there is the National
Rifle and Pistol Championships being conducted out at Camp Perry, OH (it
also happens to be the Centennial Year as well). The country's greatest
marksmen are gathered: men, women, and youth.

It is truly an Open. Regular folks like myself compete alongside the
"Professionals", the best shooters in the Country, shooters from the US
Marines and US Army Teams and others.

It would be a chance to honor those that are in the Uniform, as well as
highlight the remarkable skills that they, and those there, display.

Thank you for your consideration,
the cavman

what a coincidence. yesterday i filled out a survey on msnbc's sports page where i told them very much the same thing.

The problem with most shooting sports is they are terribly boring to watch. Imagine watching someone shoot bullseye targets for an hour. I have seen some action shooting competitions and sporting clays on TV but shooting competitions generally lack the pizazz for TV coverage.

The only place things like track and swimming get good coverage is the Olympics as I guess because it's a country vs country thing. I remember watching modern biathalon once (skiing and shooting). The skiing part was much more exciting.

And watching other people play poker is exciting????

Golf and bowling are the other 2 that I don't understand being on TV. While they are fine sports to participate in, I don't get why people watch on TV.
