Australian knuckle duster "bowie" WWII. Quite a treasure you have there. Can you give us any history on how you came to have it?

Description
Brass and steel knuckle duster knife, with leather sheath. There are no visible markings on the weapon. The brass knuckle guard grip has six square bosses around the edge. The blade is plain with a sharpened edge and a clipped back point, similar to a 'Bowie' knife. It is stored in a dark brown stitched leather sheath with an attached belt loop and hilt restraining strap.

History / Summary
This knife was believed to have been made in an Army workshop on Timor during the Second World War and it was originally owned by R T Higginbottom who served in an AIF Transport Company.

Possibly inspired by the M.H. Cole knives from the UK. http://www.militaryfightingknives.com/collection.html
