Hmmph. Looking at the Krag I have, I'd have to agree. I must say, I've never had the stock off. The script looks much like the sort on a couple French rifles.
I will certainly agree to the Krag identification and note that the opening post identifies it as a Krag Carbine. The external mark is self descriptive. I think the script initials in the wrist cartouche are likely the inspector's initials and the year is shown.
The internal stamps are likely code for the workers who did the assembly or the notations by the inspectors of those sub assemblies. None of my references have explicit details, but there's a lot of books I don't yet have.
