Ok, just purchased a red dot scope, rings, and picatinny rail for a mossberg 590, something was telling me not to get it because of the price (whole kit was somewhere between $30-$40), but I got it anyways because they only had a few left. does anyone own a U.A.G red dot scope, can anyone tell me if they are any good or not? thinking of getting some other stuff from them for the shotgun, this is why I ask.

And before anyone can ask, I wanted the red dot because I hate bead sights, been shooting rifle and pistol for years, very little shotgun shooting, so I got the red dot sight so I wouldn't have to use the bead sights.

If you "hate" bead sights in my opinion you were brought up wrong on the shotgun. A bead sight won't shatter, won't run out of batteries, won't go out of alignment, and if used properly is by far the fastest sighting option for a shotgun. Ghost Rings are used for slugs for the most part.

Your UAG "red dot" is produced with airsofters in mind I believe. Might wanna rethink your bead sight "hatred". Youre used to rifle and pistol...those are guns that you aim rather than POINT. In my opinion you should think about the shotgun as an extension of your eye and arm....shoot it almost like your chest passing a basketball. You'll love the bead if you approach it right mentally. Remeber, don't AIM a shotgun, point it. I'd rather have a simple, durable bead on my shotgun than an 800 dollar EOTECH any day of the week. Honestly, I'd see if you could return the red dot and find a cheap Tritium bead.

The only time you MIGHT need a sight is for static target shooting. Dynamic targets require pointing the gun, not aiming as mentioned above.

What are you planning on doing with it?

your probably right, I've only tried shooting shotgun twice as compared to shooting rifle and handgun for years. will try beads sights for now, like the iron sight idea, at the range I shoot at shooters can only use slugs. last time I went shooting I couldn't put the slug where I wanted and got discouraged. they do make flip rear and front sights for shotgun? haven't really looked for them yet, but any brands that you would recommend?

yes, i forgot to mention there is always the rifle sight option, which is a good middle ground between an optic and a bead. i still prefer the bead but id take rifle/blade sights over a scope on a shotgun any day.
