Can you recommend a 10mm bullet for carbine velocities?

Hey all,

I plan to set my 10mm dies up pretty soon, and I would like to load some warm SD ammo. I'm looking at 180 gr bullets, and I plan to load for a Sig P220 and a Kriss Vector CRB with a 16" barrel.

After watching a lot of ammo tests, my preferred bullet, Speer Gold Dots, seem to hold together just barely in underwood loads. Higher velocities are likely out of a 16" barrel since I'm going to work up some Accurate #9 loads, so I suspect the Gold Dot will come apart.

Anyone have a recommendation on a good high velocity 10mm hollow point? I'm wondering if I should stick with a solid copper bullet, but the weights are lower than I care for on all copper bullets.

A coated bullet will hold up just fine. If that is an issue for you, there's always jacketed available from RMR (I think) and elsewhere, but you will pay a lot. Berry's has a bullet that can do up to 1,500 FPS, but I suspect it's good for more than that.

What are you going to be shooting with them? How much penetration do you want/need? There's always the hard-cast which will likely hold together no matter what you hit or how fast you hit it. Most of the other JHP's available for reloading have velocity recommendations somewhere in their literature that might guide your choice.

180 gr bullets ... recommendation on a good high velocity 10mm hollow point?
I have Just Right carbine with 9mm/40S&W/45ACP barrel/bolt conversions.

Over the decades, I have used bulk thick plated Speer Gold Dot HP and Remington Golden Saber JHP bullets to reload duplicate practice rounds with good results as I use factory Gold Dot/Golden Saber for SD/HD.

For practice rounds, hard to beat RMR 180 gr FP jacketed bullets for $106.40/1000 shipped with 5% THR discount - https://www.rmrbullets.com/products...ll-metal-jacket-fmj-round-nose-flat-point-new

Montana Gold sells bulk 180 gr JHP but nose profile is more for reliable feeding than reliable expansion - http://montanagoldbullet.com/index.php/40-180gr-jhp-195.html
