I have a 442 and I want to get some 38spl target wadcutters for practice because they are the easiest to shoot in that gun. I can't find any for the love of money. On the internet I can't even find an out of stock listing anywhere. Does anyone know who still makes this round?

Thanks

Ive seen it at cabellas in Reno, NV about 2 years ago. I remember it actually being more expensive than the full metal jacket stuff. Nowadays I cant seem to find 38 spl in any form.

www.georgia-arms.com

Their website indicates they have .38 spl. wadcutters currently in stock. You can order online or, if you're in AL, you're probably not out of driving range (they're in Villa Rica, roughly midway between big A and state line).

I shoot there 158gr. semi-wad. I had no problem with them.
Never mind sorry they only sell to dealers.

Actually .38 special is one of the calibers that Georgia-arms is reporting extra long delays on delivering so you might stick with surplus ammo. I ordered some of that last week and it was delivered Wednesday to shoot out of my 438. I'll be trying it this weekend.

JellyJar, I hear you.

There was a time when every shop carried .38 wadcutter ammo. Often it was the best-selling round in the store. Dealers would also sell reloaded .38 WC ammo. I bought a lot of it before I started reloading.

Nowadays you almost have to special-order. Everything in 9mm today. I like my students to start out with wadcutters in their .38 revolvers, but the stuff is so hard to find that we often end up shooting Rem/UMC 130 gr. FMJ instead.

The UMC (yellow box) 130 gr. FMJ ammo is fairly mild and not expensive. It's not good for carry ammo, but you could try some for practice with your lightweight revolver.
