I'm looking for some way to secure a weapon in my car when I can't carry it with me. I drive a CRV which doesn't have a trunk or any locked compartment other than the glove box.

Any recommendations on on strong boxes? I'm looking at this one at Costco.com that has a cable I can use to lock it do the seat post.

Any input is appreciated.

What I did was found a spot under the seat that is assessable then I removed the seat and bolted it to the floor. It got rid of the cable and someone is going to have to work real hard to get into it.

I have something that is very similar to the one from cabelas and am very impressed with the construction of it and it is listed for less than I paid for mine

I have the Cabelas one and it is first rate. I hauled it all over the place when I lived in Ohio and always felt my handgun was safe.

We have a Sequiam BioBox under a seat, attached by the very stout cable that comes with it. Looks like the company recently went bankrupt, but there are still tons of BioBoxes available from vendors all over the Internet. The nice aspect of the biometric entry is that you don't have to fish for your keys to get it open.

I used to have one of the sheet metal boxes with a cable. I wondered how effective it was, so one day I pried it open with a screwdriver. Took 2 minutes.

So, here's what I have now. Yes, it's $100, but it isn't an optomistic tin box -

Guys that break into cars usually have tools. At least this thing might slow them down for 15 minutes while your car alarm is blaring.

Center of Mass sells a lock box that comes with a metal cable that can be looped around the seat frame where it attaches to the floor. Wouldn't stop someone with tools but it perfect for day to day situations.

I use a simple but effective padlock. Padlock the trigger guard to the seat adjustment lever, then I lock the steering wheel with The Club® Steering Wheel Lock, then I throw a cloth over the seat. $10 for the lock and The Club I bought a while back. Of course if you have spare money then do it right. Me? I'v learned how to eat dessert with the soup spoon. :}

I use one of the portable safes they sell at Walmart in the stationery dept. Looks like a small beige brief case & made be Sentry I believe. Holds both mine and my wifes if necessary. Fireproof to boot. Cost $25/$30 bucks.

If it is a new CRV, is there any protrusion/hook under the folding picnic table in the trunk to attach it to?

I have the own that Jorg has listed in his post. Went wwith the large version and it fits under the seat of my Jeep XJ perfectly. Holds my sp101 and two speed loaders or speed strips minus the holster. Will also hold my P95 and a spare mag.

The only lock-box I would EVER consider putting in my vehicle is a Tuffy.

I have a metal glove-box for my wrangler and love it.
