Trying to find a case for my xbolt. Looking at a Kryptek soft case or a pelican v770. $100 vs $150.

I'd rather not spend that much but I want a case that will keep it safe and Im not really a fan of the cheap plano cases with egg crate foam. I'd rather have a nice heavy duty soft case like the kryptek with more pockets. I've looked around locally and can't find anything but cheap, thin cases.

Any suggestions?

can't help, even my Christensen usually rides around in a 15 dollar soft case. I do have a plano field locker (that I spent 1-120 on, if I remember correctly) double gun case that I'm quite happy with. The things a beast and wider than my Kia which is a downside, but otherwise a very good case.

I found a nice heavy padded soft case at Dunhams for $30. Fits my gun great and has plenty of padding.

Glad you found what you wanted! I use a soft case for my air rifle but I have it in my brain that I need to use hard cases for the rest of my rifles. I've also gotten to the point where I like customizing my case interiors (see my Custom Case on a Budget thread, haha).

I hear ya. I'll probably buy a hard case here soon. Had to have something to put it in for the moment.

Really depends on needs....to and from the range, your vehicle, etc...inexpensive is fine....

When in PA, my wife got hooked up with a NRA program to promote women hunting. She flew to Texas to hunt. A custom Rem 700, Swarovski glass, etc...nothing outrageous, but still $1,500 - $2,000....a couple hundred on a case does not seem so bad....

I bought my Kryptek Premium case on Ebay a couple years ago for around $80. Great case with lots of protection. I don't worry about any of my rifles when I'm transporting them in it.

I just use soft cases now. I'm not going to ship a rifle any place. All I need is scratch protection when they are in my vehicle. I have two hardcases residing in top of my garage that have been there for years. I bet the dust is a quarter inch thick on top of them. They proved to be too bulky and too much trouble to deal with.

I use soft cases inside a golf club hard case that was dug out of the trash. Takes up less room than single or double hard rifle cases but still protects them better than just soft cases alone. 4 rifles and ammunition is an easy fit.

That's a really good idea. If I hadn't already invested so much in my cases, I might steal it.

Next hard case I get will probably be one of the Plano 52" cases, just under $100.00
