Cash America Pawn bans Concealed Carry

Just got off the phone with Randy in compliance for the Texas locations of Cash America Pawn Shops.

It is a company policy that they post 30.06 signs. (today was the first time I saw one so they all don't post them apparently...or I am blind.)

Randy carries and is on our side but his hands are tied. (He wished me good luck to get the policy changed)



I would suggest that you give them a call at 1-800-223-8738 and follow it up with a letter to

Sounds like a few hundred thousand Texans need to write letters to the company explaining why they're going to that company's competition.

That's really unfortunate. Bought more than I can remember from Cash America. Haven't seen one yet, but will also talk to the managers I know and let them know my thoughts.

100% agree on the letters that need to be written to CA corporate.

Anyone have an example they want to share here?

It is my understanding that you do not allow concealed weapon carry in your stores by licensed carriers. I find this offensive as it assumes that I have ill intentions for carrying a firearm. If I am not allowed that right while in your stores then you will not be receiving any more of my business. They do the SAME in Alaska, the have a small sign that states NO loaded weapons may be brought on to the premise.

Private property rights are part of living in a free society. They can restrict anything they want on their property. Then again, we don't have to do business there and if enough people echo this sentiment they might change the policy.

I just found out about this being enforced in the Texas locations of Cash America pawn shops.

I go to CA at least once a week to look at and purchase tools and other items.

I am going to start visiting other pawn shops that do NOT order law abiding citizens to give up their rights to defend themselves.

I understand this is YOUR right to do this. Just as it is MY right to find another tool store or pawn shop to frequent. Also as it is my right to
tell others about this and impress upon them to NOT visit your locations.

+1 -- personally I feel they have that right, and consumers have the right to take their business elsewhere if they so desire. Though I do think someone at corporate who probably has never even set foot in an actual Cash America shop, unless a guided tour is required for junior execs, setting that policy sort of isn't what is intended by the law.

Interestingly enough, I haven't seen any signs posted in the stores in El Paso.
