I am wanting to get a concealed carry permit in Colorado but I have a potential problem. In the laws it states if you have two or more alcohol related convictions or revocations your ineligible for a ccp. I have had a DWAI (driving while ability impaired) that was on the record is dismissed and a DUI that was reduced to a DWAI that I was convicted of. My license was revoked once for the second offense. So I have one alcohol related convictions and one alcohol related revocation. And both of these are in the past 10 years, which is part of the limitations. My understanding is under the law I should be able to get a CCP, but a friend of mine that has one also has a letter from the sheriff. In this letter it basically states that the sheriff can revoke his permit at anytime if he is of the opinion that it not in the public interest. Is there anyone out there that can give me any insight into this potential problem? And as a side note, I realize it is my own damned fault for having these offenses and if I can't get a permit for them I can't really blame anyone but myself. Oh and I am not an alcoholic, I have asked my wife, my mother and my father if they thought I was so :neener: don't even go there.

Fill out the application and send it in. The only thing you would be out would be the $50 back ground check. The other funds should be refunded to you as they are for the yearly dues anyway. Colorado is hard for folks caught drinking while driving. I had a friend who had two of them in the last 10 years and then got caught driving without his license while going to work. He was labeled a habitual criminal and lost his license for 7 years. He gets it back next month.
If you do not get it because of that then just chalk it up to some mistakes you are still paying for and try to keep from doing it again.
Yeah they have the right to pull it if you screw up so they need to put that in it. I have a officer friend here who told me the only time he really deals with CCW's is when he has to go and pick them up from folks that have had them revolked. That does not happen to many times.

Depending on what county you live in you might just go talk to the sherrif.

Other than that if you risk your app fee then at least if you do get denied you can name the date when you would be approved based on the 10 year window.
