This is just a personal observation after what could have been a rough day.

Total cost of Kentucky permit & course $140 & to know the applicable laws
Your carry weapon, in my case Kimber Compact Stainless II $750
Weekly practice, pins matches & carry ammo ~$300
Total cost $1190.00

Total cost after the 1 day when;
1.Inconsiderate neighbor leave their 80lb German Shepard loose and it charges in full attack mode, ears back & flat tail down, teeth bared and back hair bristling, on your property while walking to your car. The dog backed off but Plan B was to blow its brains out while it chewed on my weak arm. If this animal every repeats this performance on minor children? Dead doggie, traumatized but unhurt children!
2.Wife’s ex-coworker & 3 friends decide they are going to ambush & beat up your potentially pregnant wife at a social function, I feel I could make the case that a 4 on 1 ass kicking on my pregnant wife is a justifiable use of force situation. Thankfully a friend tipped us off and we avoided the situation.

Adjusted total cost of CCDW after the above 2 situations are considered in my opinion cheap, very cheap. I hope I never have another day like today but the pistol just earned its keep for many years to come!

252: too bad, but I'll bet your wife's never been scared sh...well, anyway, scared real bad by anyone or anything. Hope she never is; tough way to learn. I prefer to just learn from others.

Oldschool; ya' dun gud! Glkad everyone's OK!

Stay safe.
Bob

edited to add: Spent $350 for tac pistol II class then bought a G-19 to take the class with( had some problems w/ 1911 compact & didn't cherish 1000 rds of .45 in a weekend---wuss!); felt guilty, 'cause that stretched the budget real tight. Money well spent. Learned alot and did wonders for my self-confidence, and that could prevent a confrontation/ firefight along with situational awareness.

Thats the wierd part Bob, she has been. Nothing like a peeping tom looking in through the same window your looking out of. I was not around then, it would have turned out diffrently.
