CCH Method of Carry

My carry piece is a Taurus 850, 2" SS. I carry in a IWB holster. This set up is ok for winter carry, but that spring has finally arrived I am exploring alternates.

I currently use a Barami Hip-Grip. It doesn't require a holster. It is fast, comfortable, secure, thin and flat out easy to use and live with.

So, being the kind of person that assumes nothing is perfect, what am I missing about use of the Barami. I've used it constantly now for about 2 weeks and have yet to figure out a down side.

The only downside I'm aware of is that it doesn't hold your weapon as securely as a holster does. While grappling, running or climbing, the gun has a better chance of getting away that in a holster strapped to your body.

For most of us that are not LEOs, that factor is a non-issue. Since we don't routinely fight or chase suspects, the grip provides enough security to meet our carry requirements.

It also doesn't cover the trigger guard.

The chance of an ND is slight with a long DA trigger that also has to rotate the cylinder in your pants, but still...it's the thought that counts.

I always carried my Chief's Special in a Bianchi mini-holster, just behind my left hip, with my shirt tucked between the holster strap and the weapon. The bulge of the cylinder blended in with my wallet's bulge in my hip pocket. Completely invisible, and very quick to draw, if I wore one of the shirts I'd prepared by using velcro spots behind a couple of front buttons.

I also thought retention wasn't an important issue for Non-LEO concealed carry... until I stumbled on a stairway going up and my weapon went flying.:banghead:

Hip grip and a T-grip tells me somebody knows their business.

I can't think of a downside.

I have carried my S&W 442 with a Barami for years now.

Never had a problem with it - period. Great Choice! Good shooting

Ive been around for over 60 years and have used Barami's on various J and K frames as well as a Colt Detective special since I discovered them half a lifetime ago. Maybe it depends on your body but with me, my belt rides on top of the cylinder, locking it in place and providing good retention.
