I got this E-Mail today, I'll be in Florida so if anyone is interested and can attend it would be great.

Apparently on the Chip Franklin radio show yesterday, AND the Ron Smith radio show yesterday (both WBAL 1090 AM) were both talking about Shall Issue CCW (yeah!!) but they both said "It'll never happen here in Maryland in our lifetimes." Sad that we have to not only fight those who oppose shall-issue CCW but we also have to fight the depression and inertia of those ON OUR SIDE! A defeatist attitude guarantees we won't win. Doing nothing or sitting back while the others work guarantees we won't win. We can do this, but we'll have to all pitch in to do it.

Thirty-seven states now have shall-issue. VA, WV, and PA have shall-issue. It's painfully obvious to anyone who gives it a moment's thought that shall-issue has done no harm to VA, WV, PA and the rest of the 37 states. This is not a hard sell for the general population. A recent online survey in OH put on by an ANTI-GUN group on CCW got 97 to 98% response IN FAVOR of CCW!

No doubt a huge majority of the voters here in Maryland would also favor shall-issue CCW as long as they know the facts. This is what will convince those legislators who are anti-gun. When they find that the majority of their constituents want shall-issue they'll be forced to vote for it.

Our job is to (a) educate the public on the value of CCW, and (b) organize a large enough group to make an impression on the legislators. The idea that the legislators have to be Republican to vote for this is crap. There are already pro-gun Democrats and always have been. Kennedy, Johnson, and Humphrey were all pro-gun. The majority of Democrats can be pro-gun again - or at least pro-public safety.

Each one of you don't have to do much, but you have to do something!

JUST GET ONE NEW ACTIVIST PER WEEK to sign up with their emails (and Legislative District). If we can do that for just the next 3 weeks we'll have a large enough force they can't ignore.

Put on your bumper stickers. Spread the word. Get an activist friend to sign up for these email alerts.

We're planning to have a group go down to Annapolis on Thursday the 10th of Feb. Let me know if you can take that day off and we'll meet and talk to legislators. A group of 5 would be great. A group of 10 would catch a lot of attention. A group of 50 would clog up the hallways!

Save a day of vacation for the Hearings - probably in mid to late March. We may not have much advance notice as to when they are, but we need to be there in BIG NUMBERS - 300 to 500 or 1000... everyone who can possibly make it needs to be there. Plan now.

Most of all -- TELL ME WHAT DISTRICT YOU ARE IN - this will help us to put pressure directly where needed. If you don't know what District you are in:
go here - http://mdelect.net/electedofficials/
Directly below the map of Maryland, type in your street address and city
Click on "Find Street"
When the screen refreshes, near the top on the left hand side you'll see: Your Legislative District is ______
Send me an email saying what District you're in.

Thanks for the post. I'm missing work a lot for professional obligations....but if I can sneak one more day away, I'll be there!

How is the rest of the gun legislation lining up as far as hearings go? I see that Little Robbie Garagiola has proposed more anti gun legislation and I'm sure that there will be even more as the month unfolds.

If we have a better idea of how the session is going to develop we can start plannning who is going to be at what hearings........we'd like to make all of them of course but it's also not practical.
