I am 6'6", 240 pounds, very large hands. I carry different things, depending on where I am and the time of year.

Small - front pants pocket or breast pocket of large shirt - Kel-Tec P3AT 380acp (the Ruger LCP is a copy of it)

Medium - cargo pocket of shorts - Ruger LCR in 38 special

Large - OWB covered with unbuttoned outer shirt - Glock 43 9mm (Glock 26 and 2" S&W Model 10 will be tried this Fall)

Large - coat pocket - Charter Arms Bulldog 44 special

I live in North Central Texas. For most of the year I wear cargo shorts and carry the LCR.

thanks im about 5. 11 and 400 med size hands and some padding 1911s feel good Beretta 92 is about as big id go on grip size

Same size as my son (he's 6' and 380+); he has no trouble with concealing my 1911. (He's 20, so we've only had him do it in the house to try-he wants a 1911 when he turns 21.)

Here's a pic with Me (white shirt) , my Dad (blue shirt) Cam his brother (shooting), and Dyl.

i should be putting in for my permit in a few weeks in Delaware co. new york. im looking for a ccw pistol im a big fan of the Springfield guns and now that they just came out with the xds.2. that is what im thinking of this pistol is perfect. most likely be a 9mm but im not recoil shy. the sig p365 looked great but think they are still having trouble with them. just like to here your ideas on the ccw guns. i am a big guy but most times where shorts and normal shirts this may make it harder to ccw them. i also like the little rugers to if anyone can chin in on then. thanks
troy..

I would look at Taurus that is slightly larger than Sig 365 but of similar mag capacity. It isn't as expensive as that full of POS parts 365. Unlike their 365 handgun the 365 SIG ammo is excellent.

If you want something that is sure to go bang w/o much testing or stupid break in period' G26 is hard to beat. The only shortcoming is lack of rail for little combat light.

6'2" 312# Kahr CW45 and CW9. No safety to deal with, revolver like trigger.. I went from fifty years of packing a big bore revolver to the Kahrs. Wife went from 40 years with a light weight 38 to the same guns.
My feelings on the KAHR exactly. The 2 best carry guns in my opinion are the KAHR and the Ruger LCR.

Well, I'm 6' and 240, and regularly carry my 1911 or my PT145. Good holsters make it work well. I have the PT145 on as I type this with a T-shirt over it. (I prefer a cover shirt, but I just ran to the store for sugar so I just went as is.)
I like the CW 45, almost bought one, but went for the PT145 as it holds 10+1 and is no bigger than a Block, er, Glock 30, at @ 1/2 the price.
I like the Shield 9 also, I shot my Dad's and it felt and shot great for me.
The PT145 was probably my favorite. I had two of them and a 24/7 also in 45acp. Also had a PT138. I like the 45acp and the 380 is a 3/4 size 45!

I got rid of mine, not because I personally had any issues, but because of the class action. I just could not carry something that I knew had a defect.

The Taurus PT111 sure does feel good in the hand! My daughter and a couple of friends carry one. Unfortunately the trigger safety has an issue with breakage. One of the friends had to send his back to the mothership to get his repaired. Taurus turnaround can be slow.

Taurus has addressed the issue with the release of the PT111 G2c. It has a redesigned trigger and gets rid of the key lock.

I have the Taurus PT111 G2 and the Glock 26. They are pretty much the exact same size (the pictures are probably not from the same distance or angle) and can use the same holsters. I shot them side-by-side with a friend and both of us liked both pistols; they both shot well. My BiL carries the Taurus daily and likes it a lot. It's one of the Taurus handguns that has a good reputation... other than the finish. That's why I bought the stainless steel version. The Taurus has an unusual (but not bad) trigger. I'm already used to the Glock trigger, so I'll probably carry it sometimes OWB this summer instead of the Taurus, but IMHO they're both nice pistols.

You can get a G26 for $350 used on Gunbroker if you're willing to stalk them for a couple few months. (I paid more like $375 for mine, but it had a laser that I knew my friend at the LGS would give me a couple of magazines for.) I got the stainless Taurus brand new for $219 after watching them for a couple of weeks.

thanks its nice with 10 rounds here in ny that all we can have and is why i like a full size in 45. kinda sucks with a double stack 9mm that only holds 10.

If I was under a 10 round limit, no way in heck I'd carry the Glock 35 (19, 23, 20, 21, 22, ... )
On principle I'd stick with a pistol originally designed for 10 rounds or less:
Glock 26, 27, 29, 30 - all at or close to 10 round limit
1911 - 10 mm version use 8 round flush mags, 9mm have 9 round flush mags (Ruger CMD)
S&W M&P 45 acp

Carrying a Glock 19, 17 ect... with a 10 round mag would be nauseating, for me.

Well i am not big(5'9" - 195#), i think as others stated, holster is the key. I have carried a 7.5" uberti cattleman(44 spec) in an IWB. also a colt dragoon in a shoulder holster.
You might go all out and just get a smith mod 69(5 shot 44 mag)!

P.s. Check out the ketogenic diet, it worked for my son

Another vote for the shield except mine is the 45 in a paddle holster, look for a holster that cants forward or that is adjustable. Before the shield i carried a full size M&P or a 1911 and i much prefer the shield, i carry it with the short mag and carry the extended mag in my pocket

Not as big as some of you all (5'8" 205) but I find a 1911 (bobtailed if possible) at right about 2 oclock (over my pocket in jeans) conceals great under just a tshirt.

I also can carry a Glock 19X or Sig P229 fine in the same place.

In winter when I wear flannels I can upgrade to a Glock 21 or doublestack 1911.

Holsters are Vedder Lite tuck with claws, love that holster.

thanks for the info how u like that sw bodyguard 380. im not liking the ammo coast but not shooting it that much maybe once a month i do reload if i shot more.

I like it okay. Don't really love it, but it does a good job for what it's intended to do.
Ammo costs are bad for it, but I handload for every centerfire round I own anyway. The only thing I purchase is carry ammo, which is Hornady Critical Duty. It performs substantially better than most in the tests I've seen.

thanks s&w is on the list to i love glocks just less then $500 is easier to come up with
Then the S&W makes more sense- I guess 10 rounds is your limit, not worth the extra $ for a thicker gun and only 2 more rounds (8 vs 10). If you could go over 10, then you could even use 19 or 17 mags for HD, but that's not in your options.

I don't want to get off topic and I obviously don't know all of your circumstances, but don't lose hope man if you want to lose the weight. I used to weigh 300 lbs and lost 100 of that. It took 20-26 miles a week in an elliptical machine, with about 10-15 miles of hiking on the weekends, and weight lifting or push-ups on the days I didn't go to the gym. I also had to totally change what and how I ate. High protein and fiber, low low low carbs, and eating little bits through the day on a schedule rather than three meals. I had to learn to love being hungry and in pain from working out.

It took a few years. I wish you luck in your endeavor.

And to keep on track with guns, if you decide to go XDs, consider the 9mm over the 45. I have the 45, but modern ammo sort out f makes the 9mm a good choice due to capacity.
