Well, after returning the initial No 4 Mk I Enfield to Centerfire Systems (if you recall I returned it because absolutely bottom of the barrel and I paid handpick fee -- stock was old style and in reasonably good condition -- metal had actually had a small hangrinder taken to it...probably to remove rust but big gouges in receiver -- no markings and some idiot had tried to remark it with an electropencil) the BBT dropped my replacement off.

This one is in much better shape. Centerfire handled the exchange with professionalism and speed. Thanks.

I have a 1943 manufacture No 4 Mk I, BSA with micrometer sights. Stock is a funky spotted grain and is in reasonably good contdition with the common toe and heel repairs. Also a repair on the mag well. Metal is in much better shape with all markings this time. Finish is nearly gone and lots of that old black gunky paint in all the cracks and crevises. Bore appears to be in good shape.

Overall I'm happy. They are on the ragged edge of not being worth what I paid but I'm glad to have a "shooter grade" Enfield. Will figure out how to take the thing apart soon and clean her up but first I'll take her to the range and see what she'll do throwig some .303 downrange.

So some original idiot had marked it with an electropencil :D

No seriously, this one had actaully been ground down, not scrubbed, not brused but you could actually see the grinder wheel marks and then electropenciled over it.

Oh, well, this one is better.
