Anyone know if CFE Pistol has any interesting effects when propelling cast bullets, or (separate question) if CFE jacketed loads affect leading by subsequent lead bullets propelled by whatever powder?

I've been cautioned about copper fouling increasing leading, and I did have an episode recently in which my Redhawk's accuracy really went downhill after some sessions of mixed shooting of lead and plated bullets. I got quite a few visible flakes of lead on patches in the subsequent cleaning, which brought the accuracy back to par.

Whether the leading would have been any less if I'd only shot the lead rounds, I can't say. I'd have to do that experiment a lot more carefully.

I have been using CFE with a 225 grain TC from Missouri Bullets in a Springfield Armory Range officer with no problems. I would say the only reason I'm using it is that was the only pistol powder on the shelf at Cabela's at the time. it is a pretty dense powder so you have to double check to make sure there ain't a double charge. I prefer using Unique and CFE takes up about 2/3 the space of Unique.
