I am not sure how to describe this but I will give it a try. I have a sako riihimaki 222. I noticed when looking down the action into the chamber that the chamber face had a piece broken off. Instead of it being smooth all the way around the chamber a piece is gone making it resessed at that spot. The resessed part is probably no deeper than 1/8th inch deep. I imagine the face should look like a washer, smooth all the way around with a hole in the middle.

I am worried this might not be safe. I did already shoot some rounds before I saw this and notice no problems in the brass or the way it shot. Could this be unsafe and would it effect the accuracy of the gun.

I'm not familiar with the SAKO riihimaki 222.

Is the missing piece on the right hand side, about 90 degrees from vertical?

If so, it might be the clearance cut for the extractor hook and is supposed to be there.

Look at the bolt face and see if the extractor matches up with it when the bolt is held in the closed position.

Here are some pics. The angle was too difficult to get good pictures. The indentation is roughly from 12 o'clock to almost 6 o'clock.

I'm not seeing anything that wasn't put there by the factory, except some dirt & brass shavings, or rust.

The missing metal is the extractor clearance cut.
