Charles Daly Wants to Hear From You!

Dear Charles Daly, I thank you for bringing this service policy to our attention, I for one will look at CD's product with a new train of thought. If sir, (while I have your ear) you will allow me to dream. I know you have not entered the large frame revolver market, but maybe it's worth a look. What I perpose is a hunting revolver chambered in both 44. Mag and 454 Casull. I know this will sound cracked but designed around the internals of a Smith and wesson, while adding the mass and strength of a Ruger. Offer in 2",6" , with hunting type finishes, not bright stainless or bright blue. Last but not least, what I feel is the biggest change needed is create a full top ribb and strapp that is shapped like a weaver rail or piccatinny, this would allow any sighting device to be used at any point on the firearm. Well i'll stop there and let you go get a drink of water to help with the laughter and the choaking HaHa. To you and yours Merry Chistmas and Happy Holidays

I have a CD semi auto shotgun that works well, I am happy with it. It about 5 years old. Thanks for being here.

only complaint

My only complaint is the advertising. I bought a CD Field Tactical 12 gauge pump with an 18 1/2" barrel and 3" chamber. The CD website and the advertisement for the weapon stated that it could handle 5 shells. Once I got the weapon home and read the booklet it clearly stated that it could only hold TWO shells in the magazine. In my book 2 in the mag and 1 in the chamber equals 3 not 5!
I am pretty disgusted with this false advertising and would recommend to anyone that you be very careful in buying one of their products without first hand knowledge of the weapon and maybe even a little range time to find out all the little unmentioned details.
FYI, because of this I have no plans to invest in another CD product again any time soon.

srhinomike70, sorry for the confusion but your shotgun does hold 5+1 shells. It comes from the factory, as kermit315 posted, with a plug in the magazine tube that limits the tube capacity to 2 rounds. This is for the states where you can only have 2 rounds in the gun for hunting.

It is a simple process to remove the plug. There is one or more threads on the Charles Daly Forum about this. Click here for some help.

We need to do a better job of telling people about the plug. Sorry again.

Michael, I admit that I've always sniffed derisively at your products after reading various horror stories about CD CS.

This thread and the way you've presented yourself here has changed my mind.

Thank you.

I will be looking further into CD purchases, after seeing someone who is willing to do the 21 pages that you have done here.

Good Job Cherles Daly (Michael)!
ps: I agree with one of the first few posts that it's a shame about not carrying the HiPower versions anymore.
And I'm looking further into one of the polymer framed 1911's (sacrilage, I know...but).
:)
And as long as I'm dreaming...how bout a Polymer framed HiPower?!!!
THAT would be my dream come true.
(with same smaller grip dimensions as the original)!

I too bought a CD shotgun, and encountered the plug. However, I think those plugs are well known to anyone who's owned a repeating shotgun, and I managed to find and remove it without any instructions. Sure, instructions would help. Running a spell-check and proofreading on the owner's manual would help too, it brings back memories of 1980's Japanese electronics.

However, the shotgun itself is very well made, with a better trigger and overall nicer fit and finish than a Mossberg, for less money. That made me happy.

The CD Defense lineup was a great addition and is high on my shopping list for whenever I decide to get another EBR.

It's unfortunate that the HP and Zastava pistols were discontinued (and I regret not getting a CD HP from CDNN when they had them so cheap!). I wouldn't mind seeing your pistol lineup expanded, whether with more 1911 models, something DA/SA, striker fired, whatever, choice is always good. I know there are probably huge import hurdles for these countries, but Russia, Korea, China, and to some extent Egypt all seem to have interesting designs that don't appear here much. If it's going to be unusual, try to choose something that uses a common magazine style (e.g. HP, Beretta 92, or CZ-75 mags) or include at least three magazines with the gun, so the purchaser doesn't need to immediately track down more.

I bought a 20 ga. field gun for my wife, her brother and I have fired many a shot through it and just love It. I would not hesitate to buy another or a different gun from them. Then b.i.l. lost bolt handle (semi auto). Called and was sent a new one at no cost no questions had It in 2 days and on gun before wife knew of problem, yep, I'm a loyal customer and thanks.

The main reason I'm on THR is because I came across this thread while researching a 12 ga Field Hunter. My local gun shop had two and I wasn't sure about them. After reading many posts and seeing the way Michael handles peoples issues, I was convinced I couldn't go wrong. I bought the CD FH and have been incredibly happy. It has performed flawlessly and helped me take some of the first dove I've shot in years. My friend liked it and ended up buying the other one the shop had for sale! I have no issues with buying another.

Thanks for all your hard work and customer support!

I am the proud owner of a new CD Defense AR15, the M4S16...

I have to say that my first impressions are that it has the fit and finish of a more expensive AR. I do feel like I have to replace the A2 Grip and Stock with some Magpul equipment (and of course a Daniel Defense Rail... I have to support the local economy afterall ;) ). Sorry, but it's hard to top their stuff, and it will only make me that much happier with my AR. Otherwise, great Gun...!

Thanks for the great work.

HP Discontinued

Hi. My husband just purchased me an HP 1476. I read in one of your posts that it has been discontinued. Perhaps this would explain why we cannot find a spare mag for it. Will spare parts stil be available for this gun? If not, I believe I will have to sell it and purchase someting else.
I think it is great that you wold take the time to answer the posts from your customers and am looking forward to your reply on this one!!

Yes, spare parts and spare mags are available for our Daly HP. You can contact us (toll free) at 866-DalySvc, M-F, 9:00AM to 4:30PM eastern time.

Interesting, unisonic12. My son had a Colt's 1911 Cammander but had to get rid of it. I bought him a CD 1911 and he likes it better. Flawless over several thousand rounds.

Charles Daly 1911 (Wildcats08)

Mr Kassnar, I purchased a Charles Daly 1911 about 10 to 11 years ago and when I bought it at the time. I really thought that Charles Daly was the gun to get, I really thought that you couldn't beat a Charles Daly. I traded in my Colt King Cobra 357 Mag for it and got a little bit of cash back also. But they had to order the gun and that it would take about a week to get here. Well the time went by and I got my Charles Daly so I thought. I looked at it and to my surprise I see that this gun of Charles Daly was made in the Phillippines. Oh no not made in the good ole U.S. Well it was to late to get my other gun back. So I took it home and cleaned it really good. I took it out to the land that the family has to shot the 1911. And it shot good for a couple of months and then one day when all the guys in the family all had they're pistols out there We all was taking turns shooting each other's guns. After the first couple of guys shot my 1911 It started jamming, So I thought maybe it was just dirty. So I went inside and cleaned it really good. Brought it back outside to the guys that was still shooting and said ok it's ready, So I put in another clip and BANG, BANG and then JAM. I then thought it was the Ammo. I was shooting slugs and hollow points. Come to find out Most of the slugs was making it out and not jamming that much. But almost every clip of hollow points I would have at least 3 of them jam. By then I was the LAUGHING stock of the family, thanks to this awsome 1911 Charles Daly that was made in the Phillippines. Well Mr Kassnar Like I said in the beginning of this message I really thought I was getting a real Charles Daly and Was tought when I was growing up that If you got a Charles Day for a weapon you got a nice Gun. Well mr Kassnar Let me be the first to tell you. My 1911 Is a paper weight in my Gun safe that will most likely never see the light of day again. I was so heart broken when that did that to me in front of everybody. I thought it could of been a burr but when I took it apart to cleand it it was burr free. It looked brand new and when I got done cleaning it. It just wouldn't shot without jamming and I couldn't take that chance Of that thing jamming and hurting someone so I just put it to rest for ever and find me another 1911. Not sure what brand I want. All I do know is that I want American made.

I was also told that I might have to get some new clips. Some folks told me to try I think they was called wilson does that sound right? I was also told to change out my recoil spring to a 16 or 17 pound spring does that sound right also. I would really like to get this 1911 fixed and show these guys in the family that Charles Daly 45's are some great guns.

I'm no expert, but either of those could fix it. The theory there is that your magazine springs are weak, not pushing the HP's far enough up to feed reliably, or that the HP's drag more on the feed ramp and need more force from the recoil spring to to feed reliably. As I said, I'm no expert, but the recoil spring sounds more plausible to me.

Oh, and welcome to THR.

The CD 1911 I had worked great. The slide and frame were very nicely machined. The internals weren't the greatest, but that is an easy fix, and many 1911's suffer from that affliction these days. :banghead:

The CD AR lower assembly I bought shortly before the election is just super.

Thanks for the help and info. I'll try it this weekend. We have a gun show coming to town this weekend and will see if I can find a clip and a recoil spring for it. If this works I will keep the 45. It was a great shooting gun when it was shooting properly. I could run circles around the guys I was shooting against.

Wildcats08, we want your CD 1911 to run well for you. However, as some posters have said, not all HP's will work well in all 1911s. Try your fixes from the gun show this weekend. If they don't help and you still have issues, post here or call our Customer Service (toll free) at 866-DalySvc, M-F, 9:00AM to 4:30PM, eastern time.
