I'm keeping an eye on an auction elsewhere, for a parts gun. (One of those things where they remove or destroy the serialized part, and sell the rest as service parts.) This is for a Charter Arms .44 Bulldog.

The barrel on the parts pictured says Stratford, CN, so this is an older Bulldog that's being parted out. My Bulldog is current (2010 production, actually).

I'm not interested in the barrel or the grip frame. Are the internal parts (trigger, hammer, transfer bar, hand, etc.) going to be compatible between the two?

I had a Stratford era Bulldog that I sent back for a rebuild 2 years ago. They had to replace the cylinder because the star & hand were different on the old guns as opposed to the new guns.

Allow me to save you a lot of grief - assume that every part will need to be fitted to one specific frame. Revolvers and 1911s are not like bolting together an AR. You will need skills and tools. Most parts will be made oversize and require fitting. I have had an old Stratford Charter since 1987 and have fitted hammers and sears and triggers and locking bolts to it. NOTHING dropped in.

Noted.

Charter has hammers now that are drop in. You can buy a spurless DAO hammer from them, and it's a literally 5 minute job to install.

I have a pile of parts of unknown but probably old vintage for the Undercover. I know the bobbed hammer from that doesn't want to work in the current Undercover. I know the steel grip frame doesn't want to go on my Bulldog.

Oh, well. I should probably just let this one slide on by.
