Chrome Handguns

How much does it cost to hard chrome a handgun (cz-82)? Where is the best place for a utah man to get this type of work done? Please feel free to also post your shiny gun pics!

Robar is in Phoenix and they do wonderful work.
Not cheap, but the best.

The NP3 finish is especially good looking & super durable.

Mahovsky's Metalife will hard chrome a semiauto pistol for $155. Not sure how "shiny" they are. You'll have to ask. Most I've seen have a dull flat silver look. Nothing like the chrome bumber on a '55 Chevy.

Like Kernel says, hard chrome isn't shiney like bumper chrome. Usually a bluish light grey. Can be with a bit of work though. Just don't polish the top of the slide. Front sight will disappear in bright light.
You planning on pearl grips too? snicker.
Look in the Yellow Pages. Any metal finishing shop that does hard chrome can do it. A smithy will send it out anyway. Assuming it's legal for them to do firearms in Utah.

I have had Mahovsky Metalife done on several guns. The process he uses is a bit different than industrial hard chrome. It is more resistant to corrosion (yes, hard chrome can rust) and I like the pewter gray appearance of the finish.

This one was done by Accurate Plating & Weaponry, through Alpha Precision, who did the rest of the work. Hard chrome can be done over a brushed finish, bead blast (pictured) or bright polished.
