Chunky Snubbies: Fish nor Fowl or Sliced Bread?

I don't see the issue with the 3-4" barrels.
I always had more trouble with fat cylinders and chunky butts (especially square).

The one chunky revolver I sold that I really regret was the Ruger Speed Six 3". I think it was some sort of government contract over run.

Here is my chunky snubbie. Really serves no purpose. Pretty much too big and heavy to carry, kind of a large caliber for home defense, and too short of a barrel for hunting. But it is one thing...fun. I really like snubbies, and this was also a gift from my dad.

He actually asked me last time we had it out, if I liked the gun. I said hell yeah, why? He answered "You sure did shoot alot of my ammo lol." Probably shot 200 rounds that day. 20200118_222739.jpg I guess I better get reloading for this one soon.

I've often thought of saving up for one of those. You're right, they're big ol hunks of steel that are "compact" in the most academic of terms, but man do they look cool.

I have an AR that my dad bought me. I'm not much of a rifle guy, but he bought it for me because it was a left handed model. Since we're both lefties (well him a lefty, me more ambi), he thought it would be a nice gift. I'll always treasure it:)

Here is my S&W model 36 with a Hogue “Monogrip”. I had to change gripson it. While the factory grip with the added T - Grip made it look cool I had to readjust my grip every other shot. The Monogrip really helped my grip on the gun but also made it appear a bit “chunky”. :D

I like the grip so much I plan to put one on my 60 Pro and my 63.

The Houge "Bantam" grips, for both the J and K frames, are kind of a "best of both worlds" thing. Still keeps the gun reasonably small, yet gives a good, solid grip.

The factory Magnas and a T Grip are one of my favorites as well, and I have them on a number of guns, but the Bantams make for better shooters, especially if youre shooting the gun a lot.

Every time I see one of these it stops me in my tracks. I want one but have no need for it...other than I want one.

The only thing I can do when I see the 327 is chuckle . No, I don't want one. I just can't want one. I haven't fired a 327 but it's just not right. Ok, maybe I'll buy one for humors sake some day but dang, what were they thinking?? I know guys who have and love them but I doubt I'll ever be on board, but I've been wrong before

Yes, they do look weird. I guess that is my attraction. Kind of like I “had” to have one of these, until I saw the price :

Ugly! But cool!

I absolutely love snubbys. The vast majority of my meager collection are snubs. I shoot them a lot and do well. Not target accuracy by any means but anything within 20 yards is mine. I regularly shoot steel plates at from 10 to 25 yards. I especially love 3 inch Detective Specials and a model 24

To me, that is one heck of a 21st century revolver with some 20th century S&W styling still in the mix. The only thing holding me back is the scandium frame and price. I'd like it in black stainless much better, because it would be a house gun/fun gun instead of a carry gun.

I figure if I ever owned one, I'd just stuff .38 Specials in it due to that 2" barrel.

This is about as chunky of a snub as it gets,

Loving my chunky snubbie. I've wanted one of these Police Service Six's since I first laid eyes on them back in the 80's. I finally picked one up almost two years ago. She's a beast. The stock grips were okay but a tad narrow for full house .357's. The Stag grips were made a bit thicker and soak up the recoil much better. Since these pictures I have added a Mepro front sight that gives a much view down the pipe..
