Cleaning Rods

I've been looking at my Pro-shot and Dewey coated cleaning rods and they all are more bowed than a pool-hall q-stick. Does anyone out there make a quality rod that is also straight? I can watch the crown, but I'm worried about the bent rod rubbing the bore...

Any thoughts? Thanks

I see Tipton is making graphite cleaning rods.
I haven't checked one out up close though. But the idea of a one piece cleaning rod that dosen't need a coating is rather interesting.

Dewey rods...

I've had my Dewey cleaning rod for more than seven years. Still straight as an arrow. I guess it depends on how it's stored. Mine is hung off the wall about waist height with two sets of screwdriver holders on my pegboard. No problems, no complaints. And I use it all the time.

I got my Dewey at the store. It was checked for straightness before I bought it. The cleaning rod is something that should not be mail ordered and it's better to inspect before purchasing.

romulus, if you wipe the rod to keep it free of grit, some curvature can't hurt the barrel's steel. Any cleaner or oil on the rod or barrel will "lube the piston" against any harmful degree of friction.

If you're pushing a rather tight patch through the barrel, even a straight rod will bow a bit. Technically, it's called "column bending".

Seriously: does anyone have a link for Tipton graphite cleaning rods?

Dewey all the way except for their .17. It is just way to small and bends very easy. Not Deweys fault they just have to make them in such a small diameter.

That is what I use on my .22 and .17 rimfire. I made my own based on the patchworm and it works great.
