I've got a New Single Six which I took to the range last Sunday. I tried cleaning it afterwards but the rod wouldn't fit. Where can I find a cleaning kit for this gun? Thank you.
IMHO, the best thing to do with a .22 is simply use a pull though patch. Take a piece of weed wacker line, melt one end into a blob, thread a wet or dry patch on the line and pull it through the bore. Use Q tips to clean the cylinder.
If y'all don't have weed wacker line up there, PM me and I'll send you some.
Yes, if you're not careful you can damage the rifling at the muzzle, which will foul up accuracy. Use a pull-through, or at least use a brass muzzle guide for the rod. Check Brownells or Dewey.
Agree with pull thru , using no brushes - only patches.
I use a .177 pull thru from Otis
or
Length of Rawhide [ like a bootlace] with a slit to hold a patch.
I've been doing the Rawhide deaile forever- before the Otis kits came out , on larger bores , even rifles one can tie a knot ..I still prefer the slit.
Patch Worm is made from Weed Wacker line and is a good system. just as easy to make your own as Al suggested...
One can use a drinking straw to protect muzzle / crown with pull thru's ...
sm - having spent some time is Boston (grad school), I'm aware some folks don't have yards. Seems better for the lady to get me to send a couple of weed wacker pull throughs than to have her purchase a bunch of line for no purpose.
Years ago met an HS Exchange Student from France. He thought "weed wacker line" meant someone that smoked dope.
Kind of homely and sheltered - exchange family took him to a Rodeo -
Totally freaked when they took him plinking - I didn't Know a Marlin 60 kicked - did you folks? Ruger MK II was "punishing"...boy did this family get the short end of the stick .
Boston may not have lawns, have need for weed wackers...but at least we have Folks like Mastrogiacomo .
