Cleaning vs: polishing

I tumble cases in Walnut media and this seems to clean pretty good. I also add a cap full of nu-finish to this 5 min prior to tumbling so it can be distributed through the media and dry. The corncob, in my experience, polishes real nice but the walnut cleans good enough for me. Never had an issue using only walnut.

I mix corn cob and walnut media together (50/50) and a dab of Nu Finish in my tumbler. All but the most dirty range brass comes out clean and polished.

Of the two, corn cob. The ultrasonic seems to be the best from what I have seen, although I don't have one yet but I plan to in the future.
But if I have a choice of cob and walnut, I would use cob unless you are finding these casings with a leaf blower and they have been on the ground since last year, and in that case use walnut first, then cob.
Add some kind of polish occasionally if you want a shine, but don't add paint thinner unless you are cleaning brass out in the detached out-building or detached garage. That stink will not leave the room if you do it in your living quarters.

I use walnut to clean and polish. I add Flitz polish to both walnut shells and corn cob. The cleaned brass shines like new. With a coating from the polish that will not take a fingerprint. With old dryer sheets added no DUST. Have Fun.

SAFE SHOOTING ALWAYS.
