I am just curious how long did you have to wait for your CMP Garand?
Ok,5 weeks ago the check cleared for the HR garand, now I'm getting antsi over the wait.
The web site says 30-90 days.I've read on previous threads people recieved garands in 3-4 weeks. These must've been Springfields?
Anybody else waiting on a HR,and how long have you been waiting.
Ammo came in today, the gun case is waiting, and a slot has been created between the floor joyces in the basement, cable lock and all.

If you think the wait for the HR is bad, think about those of us who are waiting on IHC(possibly 2 year wait) and Winchester(6 months).

Well at least its overnight delivery!

Sign up for the e-store thingamajig. You can check status every day if you like. Just need a password...

Don't call the folks though, they are starting to get up tight about that I heard...

BTW (braggin' here), I got a remarkable Winchester last December, completely rearsenaled. Its like getting a practically NIB M1...And about a month later I got my collector IHC. Whoa. What a rifle....

Hang in there! Its worth the wait!

Oh, hey, thanks for reminding me, C&R in the mail took all the brain cells! My Arizona State Rifle & Pistol Association membership should be just about cleared so I should get the CMP paperwork started...

They prep rifles in batches. Yours probably got there right after they'd processed a bunch of H&R's. within a week or two you and most others who have ordered an H&R will get them.

I've read the IHC and Winchesters are the ones they built very well and the wait is lenghty.
The wait for those 2 brands would drive me beyond crazy, thats why I settled for the HR.I shot a HR at our last club match (200yrds) and it is a bute!
Thanks for the insight, sitting and twittling my thumbs!

Who in the world did you hear that from? Scott Duff implies the opposite. Winchester's machining is quite rough and they lagged behind many of the running improvements made at the Armory. I love it when I get WRA parts on CMP rifles, though - I sell them on eBay for 2X what the SA parts go for. I LOVE Winchestoholics!

H&R made many rifles for the military. Their Garands are very well made and function great. My best shooter for the last three years was an HRA, and it took some tweaking of a SA/VAR with new Wenig stock set to shoot better than that H&R.

IHC got a contract for Garands for one simple reason - we were concerned about a nuclear attack and the small arms industry was concentrated in New England. They had many problems, and had a lot of parts supplied them by H&R or SA, and barrels came from LMR. They are good rifles because all Garands are good rifles, bu they are sought after only because of their relatively low, and late, production. And folks from the region.

You've made a great choice. But don't get too wound up, it's 50/50 that the only H&R part of the rifle you get is the receiver. Out of 3 H&R's, I've gotten three H&R barrels, no HRA trigger groups, no HRA op rods, and one HRA stock set. You'll still have a blast with it.
