Cheney reaction? Girl accidentally shoots boyfriend

By Brad Turner
The Daily Times-Call

Lafayette resident Josh Kayser chuckled Monday afternoon when he read about Vice President Dick Cheney accidentally shooting a friend during a quail hunt over the weekend.

A few hours later, paramedics rushed Kayser, 21, to the hospital after his girlfriend accidentally shot him while they were trailing a raccoon.

“I read that thing about the vice president and said to myself ‘How can you shoot your friend with your gun?’ And look what happened,” he said Tuesday.

Kayser and his 17-year-old girlfriend spent Monday night hunting raccoons that had been preying on chicken’s on his family’s property on the 2300 block of 95th Street north of Lafayette.

At about 9:30 p.m., Kayser crouched down to look under a shed where he thought a wounded raccoon was hiding. His girlfriend, whom police did not identify, crouched down behind Kayser and accidentally shot him with a .22-caliber rifle.

He felt blood running down his neck.

The bullet entered behind his right ear, came out his chin and lodged in his left forearm.

Paramedics took him to Avista Adventist Hospital, where he spent the night.

Doctors opted to leave the bullet in his arm for fear of causing nerve damage if they tried to remove it.

“I feel fine,” Kayser said. “It feels like a cigarette burn.”

Doctors discharged Kayser from the hospital at noon Tuesday.

Investigators decided not to pursue charges against Kayser’s girlfriend.

Sex offender!!!

Is this normal, or did he sever a nerve or something?

I dunno..Could be that cigarette burns are part of their sexual repetoire, but hopefully not raccoons.

....Um. Nope. Not gonna say it. Never mind.

This incident should serve as another reminder to re-examine our own habits and look for any that are unsafe. It's pretty difficult to shoot anyone without pressing the trigger. Not saying impossible but pretty darned difficult. Then there;s that little thing about not pointing the firearm at anything you're not willing to destroy.

(Most "accidents" of any consequence are the result of two or more mistakes working together).

Plus it is well-known that the .22 is considered too small for huntin' husbands with. Tsk.

The age of consent in La is 17

Do any of you calling him a sex offender know the sodomy laws in your state

I wonder if anybody, oh let's say from Oklahoma, would be interested to know that it is a felony there punishable with up to ten years in prison

AHHHHHH

So THATS what all the flashing lights and excitement was I spotted while driving home Monday night. Good thing the shotee is OK. I don't know about using a .22 though. While the area is quasi-rural, its getting pretty developed with all the McMansions and Ranchettes going onto what used to be crop land. An errant round would have no trouble hitting some hapless families home. :uhoh:

Well, it IS Boulder County, home of The People's Republic of Boulder, Colorado (three square miles surrounded by reality), and the dis-reality tends to leak out of the city boundaries.

Right. And I'll bet the farm she and her boyfriend were interviewed pronto. And that any possibility of drug or alcohol involvement determined and resolved pronto at the time "investigators" arrived.

And that she did not get away with telling the local police, "Ah... you guys better come back tomorrow when I will not smell so bad and we, uh ... I have decided what we are going to say".

The problem with the Cheney incident is not - as the red herring is being played around - the fact that he has had a "hunting accident" and claims to have accidently shot a fellow hunter. It is that the local police agency with jurisdiction was obstructed from conducted an immediate and objective investigation upon arrival.

This is one of the reasons the Kennedy assasinations are not going to "go away", and the main reason the Cheney "hunting accident" is not going to go away either.
