So I normally load pistol ammo and have used the walnut lizard bedding found at petsmart. It's time to buy more media and found a better deal at harbor freight. 25 pound bag for $20 (if u use the coupon ).

Question HF offers coarse and fine walnut media so which type is better? Coarse or fine. Media getting stuck in the flash hole is not a concern. I also always use nu finish and cut pieces from an old shirt.

also is the media at petsmart more of a fine or coarse.

Thank you all.

I don't know if it's classified as coarse or fine, I'm guessing coarse, but Zilla reptile bedding is what I use from Petco for 9mm, .223 and .308. No plugged primer pockets or flash holes to date. If you add liquid polish to it, be SURE to let it tumble 10-15 minutes by itself to break up any clumps before you add brass.

I always get the fine stuff in walnut amigo. But, I'm sure the coarse would work great too, especially if clogging the primer pockets are not an issue with you.

I bought walnut media at a sand blast supply co. The screen size is 12/20 which works really good.

Bought the 25# Harbour Freight box a few years back... still using it. Works fine.

higgite I would sure like to find some of that w/out having to order it in? Iam running both tumblers w/w.shell media and ss/pins none here in nearest town?

i have the fine, it flows very well and gets the brass clean. it is very dusty, but perhaps that is just the nature of things. i now ss tumble and use the walnut or cc media to help add nufinish to the end product.

i will be doing quite a bit of this today actually, i picked up 23+lbs of 40sw brass of a fellow THR member that should arrive today, to my evening will be fun. i have a sickness known as shinybrassitus ;)
